Flip side of "Do You Know How To Twist" in late 1962.

The Beach Boys track you replaced this with is very weak IMO.

Very good one, on my 1962 list.

Did not know it, pretty good jazzy track until the violins came in.
Bo Diddley|Here 'Tis|Checker LP2982|1962

Really good one that is surprisingly good by the High Numbers too.

Fats Domino|Don't Deceive Me|Imperial LP9170|1962

Just a 6 for me.
The Flamingos|September Song|Vee Jay LP1052|1962
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGvI_YdroZ8
I have this in 1953 when it was recorded. If an unissued item from years
ago comes out as part of a retrospective album like this, I don't
consider it a contemporary release. Just as I don't put unissued Spiders songs in the year that they came out on the Bear Family CD, I don't put unissued Flamingos songs in the year that they came out on what is essentially the complete Chance recordings of the Flamingos and
Moonglows from 8-9 years prior.
Jimmy McCracklin|He Knows The Rules|Chess LP1464|1962
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OTbbGt1iJ8
Did not realize it was not a single, but it's certainly real good.
Willie Nelson|Crazy|Liberty LRP3239|1962

I don't like it much by Cline, and this is even worse.
Gene Vincent|Spaceship To Mars|UK Columbia SX1412|1962
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFhTy3jNzmU
I don't think much of his 60s material.
The Flamingos|September Song|Vee Jay LP1052|1962

So what is your cutoff?
Is "333" by the Drifters in 1971 because it first came out on this album then?

If not, why? It's almost the same exact circumstances as "September
Song," just 9 years later.

No its not *quite* the same circumstances at all since "September Song"
was finally released WITHIN the time parameters of this newsgroup whilst
The Drifters recording was not. And yes of course "Three Thirty Three"
is included in my 1954 favorites list as an "unreleased" item
You know as well as I that there are many of these kind of "anomalies"
on both our lists if we look. For example in my 1963 album tracks post
coming in a few days is a Pat Cupp recording from 1956. But I list it as
1963 and I bet you do too.
We both list Fats' "Little Mama" as 1963 tho it was recorded in 1954 yet Elvis' "Ain't That Lovin' You Baby" is listed as a 1964 record when it
dates from 1958.
As the great J.B Lenoir once nearly said "I list um the way I feel"

In the case of Fats and Elvis those things were not released as part of
a retrospective release. They were regular releases as was the Pat Cupp.
They were not part of a release of specified much older material like
"The Drifters - The Early Years" and like "The Moonglows vs. The
Flamingos were. Even the Pat Cupp is just an album called Pat Cupp,
although I may move that track back to when it was recorded.
I fail to see ANY reason why the years that are covered in this
newsgroup should have ANY bearing on what years the tracks get assigned
to.

After a great deal of thought I've decided that your argument has some
merit.
Therefore in the name of consistency I've decided to move the Flamingos
track
to 1953 when it was recorded and likewise the Pat Cupp track to its
recording
year too. Any other examples I come across in similar vein will get
moved too.
BTW the 1963 LP containing the Pat Cupp track is titled "Ray Smith And
Patt
Cupp" (sic) on the budget Crown label (one side all RS t'other side all
PC)
