Hmmmm....a few "not very well knowns" in the mix this week I see :-

    1. BUMBERSHOOT, Phil Harvey

For "Phil Harvey" read PHIL SPECTOR-here taking time off from the Teddy
Bears to lay down this neat little piano led instrumental for Imperial

    4. RACE WITH THE DEVIL, Gene Vincent & The Blue Caps

The GREAT immidiate followup to "Be-Bop-A-Lula" on Capitol

    5. SCHOOL BELLS, Nicky & The Nobles

Hailing from New Haven Ct "School Bells" on Gone is a 6 on my 1958 list

    6. JOHNNY CLEAN UP, The Masters

Here's one I did not know. "The Masters" on Len 103 Philadelphia group
    and label
(they released a decent early Dreamlovers number). I'll give it a few
    spins

    9. I REALLY LOVE YOU, The Stereos

GREAT number --#37 on my 1961 favorites list still recall hearing it for
first time on Luxembourg and rushing out to buy my 45rpm MGM copy (MGM
    here Cub in US)

Didn't know it then but I was in good company--one Mr George Harrison
much further up north than me was also an avid fan of this one

    10. SHAZAM, Duane Eddy

From his movie "Because They're Young" this Duane classic came in at #5
on my recent Fave Instrumentals listing for 1960

    16. THE GAME OF ROMANCE, The Four Bars

Another one I didn't know before. Group from Washington DC (wasn't there
some big jamboree or something there last week????)and again on the
Philly based Len label. I'll give it a few spins but probably a 6

    21. FLIP OUT, Billy Brown

Minor rockabilly on Columbia from the guy who did "Did We Have A Party"
and "Meet Me In The Alley Sally".

    22. HEY LITTLE GIRL, Dee Clark

From 1959 and originally by Thurston Harris but I prefer the Dee Clark
    cover version

    27. COUNTING THE STARS, The Ladders

I shoulda been born in NYC I just love so many of these 50's vocal
groups from that great city including this one on the Holiday label
(home to a ton of these kinda records)

    29. I HEAR YOU KNOCKIN’, Lazy Lester

Not the Smiley Lewis classic but a nearly-as-good insistent uptempo
blues classic from 1959 (an 8 on my list) that was always a huge "asked
    for" item at Moondog's

    30. WHERE THE RIO DE ROSA FLOWS, Carl Perkins

Originally by Jimmy Lloyd (alias country singer Jimmy Logsdon) and not
to be confused with the black UK 50's singer of that name here on
    Roulette in 1957
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzqDIoGtX4s

    I'm a fan of BOTH Jimmy's and Carl's versions :)

    32. GOOD LOVIN’ Janis Martin

It's "Good Love" from 1958 and her last-but-one release on RCA before
jumping ship (and sinking big time) to Palette label.

    34. NIGHT OWL, The Dukays

Decent Chicago doowop from The Dukays (with Gene Chandler lead)
originally on Nat label before Vee Jay took over the reins

    35. THE STARS ARE OUT TONIGHT, The Tear Drops

From 1954 on Josie a white vocal group,no? Not bad at all

    49. MY WAY, Eddie Cochran

I like it better by Sinatra :)

    40. PINTOR, The Pharos [sic]

Pretty good surf-rock instrumental I did not know. Thanks Dean I'll add
it to my 1963 faves list

    45. YOURS FOR THE ASKING, Linda Hayes

Overlooked item from 1953 during her time recording for the infamous
    John Dolphin

Phil Spector's real name was Harvey Philip Spector. He hated his first
name, so I'm surprised to see he used it as his alias.

You're doing a good job working in a few odd records every week. This is
how to do it. A 3 record set with the odd record in the middle. That way
the audience hears something familiar both before and after the odd
record, which helps to make it more tolerable for them They get a small
dose of something unfamiliar surrounded on both ends by something they
will know. On a show like this you don't want to play 2 unfamiliar
records too close to each other.

A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down!

To people listened exclusively to commercial oldies radio, most of what
    I play is "odd records."

If they were listening to oldies radio in the early 70s like I was to
WCBS-FM, they would be familiar with about 2/3 of what you play.
