The reality is far far different. The mass distribution of wealth to an ever dwindling minute percentage, overrides the odd examples of an individual, getting lucky and overcoming an inertia of actually moving upwards, and which is so great it

The word 'research' is clearly demeaned outside of a scientific context.

I'm talking about peer reviewed research by economists, not something

Trump is actually a result of the powerful suppressing the truth, promoted by the likes of Fox BS, gangsters like Murdoch, and the excesses of Wall Street. It is Trump and other warts on society that talk of walls, restricted free trade by using
tariffs, and who have an obvious dislike of being seen to condemn the Nazi-type elements who in their abject misery vote for an infant-man now residing in the White House.

-You can not goad me into defending Trump.

Trump is merely the idiot promoted by the populist power players as mentioned above. Nobody of any intelligence can defend an idiot. How about mentioning his promoters?

Real freedom is not the freedoms espoused by the right wing. Real freedom is something they wouldn't know about.

One example of 'freedom' resides in Australia, where it is now not possible to freely demonstrate, not possible to report the abuses in Manus and Nauru, and other restrictions only a rabid mob of right wing extremists in our so-called 'Lieberal'
    government have enacted.

-I don't call that freedom any more than -you do. Did you think I would?

No. But once again, you fail to address the question of why these freedoms are curtailed.

    Because power corrupts.......
The question is what form of government minimizes the amount of or
effect of corruption. Certainly not socialism/communism. That just concentrates power in the hands of the Party elite. Even if Capitalism results in concentration of power in the hands of an economic elite, is
    that worse?

    Ray Hall, Taree
Do you really think this response is appropriate for an honest mistake? I attributed something Dan said to you by mistake. This makes me excrement? I made a mistake. You are the nastiest person I've ever encountered. An apology is not necessary.

You were quick to say you had proved your point, whatever that was, when I questioned you about it.
What part of mistake did you not understand?
I think I am entitled to explode when text is being used carelessly, and accusations made, in a thread I am not even participating in. I therefore lost it. Mea culpa.

If that is an apology, I accept.

I didn't make one. I am still waiting for yours.

If a person should apologize for making an honest mistake (I always wondered about that), then I apologize.

Then I accept and apologise in return.
    Now best to leave it.

For me, most of the major religions represent communions of people, who want to get closer to questions that science cannot answer. Neither can religion, but that isn't the point. Therefore it isn't unusual for many scientists, as well as Einstein, to be
religious in some way. Besides, Einstein, after general relativity, needed something to keep him going, and needling Bohr and thus QM for the rest of his life, was that something.

Richard Dawkins and Krauss both represent science very badly with their pathetic attempts to deride religion. I deplore their attempts to deride religion, a comfort for zillions of people over eons of time.

Bias by whom against whom or what? Bias against science? Maybe exposure to science creates anti-religious bias (doubt?) within the orthodox community? Bias is not rejection. I absolutely hate these all or nothing type statements. What about all the

There are different ways of being (or thinking) within the groups you mention. Not everyone is at the far extreme. I think there are people who are open to people disagreeing with them, not having closure on every issue and there are people who are
the opposite. I don't think these personality traits have anything to do with sorting people into being theists or atheists.

orthodox theists. They do not differentiate between ways of being.

There are different ways of being (or thinking) within the groups you
mention. Not everyone is at the far extreme. I think there are people
who are open to people disagreeing with them, not having closure on
every issue and there are people who are the opposite. I don't think
these personality traits have anything to do with sorting people into
    being theists or atheists.

The best criterion for sorting people and the most accurate predictor
of personality and behavior is whether they prefer dogs or cats.

I have no evidence to the contrary.

There are all kinds of atheists and theists. Dawkins polemicises with those orthodox theists who believe that there is a supernatural being that somehow manifests itself in the world. According to him, no such being exists - as if manifesting itself in
the world were the only way of being.
