The Mozart rondo in a minor was also on that program, and recording as issued on LP and later CD. I saw it telecast at the time, but I’ve never run across a video of it since.

I started this thread???? Dan, you are not only supremely obnoxious, but completely unaware of your own smell, which is as trollish as they've ever come. You also either can't read, or you're a drunk, because I did NOT start this thread. I merely
provided some information asked by the actual originator of the thread (please consult your dictionary for the meaning of that word).

YOU are the one who showed up on this thread with your usual rude and obscene trolling.....again check the dictionary.....I'm not the troll....turn that mirror around and gaze upon your own visage for that. If you really, sincerely think that your
presence here, stomping on anyone's opinion in the most obnoxious, overbearing and useless manner of any troll in the HISTORY of this or any other forum, is in ANY way conducive to actual discourse about ANY topic you "comment" on, you have even less
self awareness than I thought. You obviously subsist only on the meal of being a jerk as many times daily as you can manage, and succeed at THAT, you do in spades. That you have knowledge of the topics is not the issue....of course you do. But why do
you insist on trashing everything that you dislike in terms that nobody can ever follow up on without first dealing with YOU? You go WAY beyond even the acerbic barb to the puerile and adolescent drive by nonsense that you peddle OVER and OVER and OVER
until we all are ready to barf!

A while ago you announced your retirement from your daily quota of dreck on this board. I think that lasted all of 2 weeks. Did you miss us THAT much? Your "friends" here? I compared you to Tom Deacon. Tom seems to have gotten along with a few
people in "real life", if not the people I know that actually had real dealings with him. I sincerely hope it's the same with you. You need to get some help, and stay off the RCMR juice, because it's poisoned you. For SURE, you poison this group. Why
I bother with this I really don't know, because I KNOW you'll just throw this back at me.

I do know some very good folks here, off board, and have made some good friends among them. You could too, unless you think you're "better" than us, or smarter. Is that why you're such a jerk here? To prove yourself, somehow? Grown ups don't need
    that, Dan.

It's not about free speech, Dan. Have it....with all of our blessing. But stop being a jerk of a troll, or suffer the criticism gracefully and stop throwing crap back at those of us trying to go though life with some manners.

Herman, I have to disagree with you somewhat. While some of Dan's
statements have seemed dubious, he clearly has familiarity with very
many pianists and great knowledge of the piano literature as well as
    other genres.

He does use an unusual definition of "troll", labelling people who use
screen names as trolls, when that includes a majority of folks here.
Two of the contributors he interacts with very regularly use screen
names - Mandryka and HT - and they are far from being trolls!

No, a troll is someone who deliberately instigates conflict - and I'm
not sure he meets that definition. Dan is certainly provocative, and
that is great when it stimulates constructive debate. And he provides a valuable service by scouring YouTube for interesting performances and
    sharing them with us.

Also, I've often found that I agree with most of the performances he
recommends and he has provided interesting insights and comments.

None of this excuses the unprovoked insults and nastiness that Dan
indulges with all too frequently - and vhorowitz
expressed this point very vividly indeed!

No one expects those of us who may seem overbearing, supercilious, or

Agreed - we all have different perspectives. I have a friend who speaks

one can dream the usual unselfaware response by now.

Whatever justified criticism of Dan's behavior we have, mistaking the originator of a thread shouldn't be one of them.

I breezed in on this thread, and as usual it now has nothing to do with Rudolf Serkin. I didn't pay attention to the thread because Serkin isn't a pianist I particularly warm to.

Since it seems to be open season for OT posts, does anyone have any idea how to get the Stormont assembly to start meeting again and governing N.Ireland? The DUP have been sabotaging the government for far too long, and anyway in the last election there
was a simple majority for Sinn Fein.

Here we go again. When a person says, "this sucks," or "this is the best," it should go without saying that they are stating their opinion. Do you really think such statements need to introduced with IMO or IMHO (good luck with that)? When you state
an opinion, do you preface it with IMO? Of course not. The criticism of Dan is that he is rude (or behaves in a rude manner in RMCR, he could be a pussycat in real life for all I know), and one can have an opinion on whether he knows what he is talking
about. But he entitled to state his opinions as much as you are, without explaining they are his opinions. It doesn't matter if his head he certain he is right or whether he recognizes that he could be wrong. I don't care. Why should you?

It's not the criticism that bothers people so much, but the way it is
phrased. Nobody likes their favorites being disparaged - but this group inevitably will have negative as well as positive reactions to
recordings. Maybe the comments could be phrased in a more diplomatic way?

Well, all of us have no doubt been guilty of less than ideal behavior at

I just now promised to cease my whining and will try to do so. I'm just relieved that - so far - no one has asked me to stop the silly jokes. I
