• Check the damn engine

From sticks@21:1/5 to All on Sun Aug 4 11:41:43 2024
I've had a bunch of other things needing my attention, but after getting
the View it's parking spot and getting the power protector and water
pressure valve, hoses, etc. I decided to take the wife for a short ride
since she hadn't even been in it while it was moving. Intended on going
out for a few days next week just to sort out any bug that might pop up
before long trips. I just got the plates for it, put them on, pulled in
the slider and down off the jacks.

I'll be damned if I look down at the dash after a couple miles and the
yellow check engine light is is on. I've only driven it home from the
dealer and then on a short 5 mile loop for the wife and I gotta take it
in to see what the hell is going on with that. AArrrggghhhhh!

Get yourself an OBD2 scanner, and maybe you won't have to take it to
    the dealer.

That or put a piece of tape over the light.

Another thing to try first (OBDII scanner is a good thing to have
regardless) is to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes or so and
reconnect. Sometimes these computers get the signals messed up and a
reset will fix it. If the light stays off, you're golden. If not...

I got the scanner and it give code P23AD. Looks like NOx sensor. I'm
gonna crawl under there tomorrow and see if some of the connectors came
loose or something. If they did, it should reset and make the light go
out on its own. If not, at least I know what the problem is now and can
    sleep easier.

Since that's a new vehicle, it should be covered by the warranty.
Meanwhile, the scanner should allow you to clear the code, and you can
see if it occurs again. Now that you have a code, consider calling the
dealer service dept and see what they say.

Took it up to Madison Yesterday and it indeed was the NOx sensor.
Service guy says it isn't the first one he's had. Gotta take it back up Wednesday for the new one.

Funny thing happened there. I had just finished talking to the service
guy about mine being done for the day and figured it would be pulled
around shortly and in pulls a View where I was expecting mine. I see
this guy walking around either locking or unlocking the outside storage compartments and am wondering what the hell they were doing that for. I decided to step outside and see what the heck he was doing. I look at
the view, it had the identical paint scheme as mine and figured it was
mine. I didn't know it at the time, but it was another guy coming in
for an oil change. So I'm standing there looking at the thing and I had
just washed it the day before because it gets gravel on it when it rains
since I haven't gotten it's parking spot paved yet. Well this thing was filthy. The guy was standing next to me now and I said, "Damn, I wonder
how in the hell that thing got so damn dirty?" The guy answers
something along the lines of, "Oh, that's all right. It ain't bad." I
then realize it is his and not mine. I apologize and tell him I had
just washed mine the day before and we both had a good laugh and talked
    about our toys for awhile.
