(Presumed) Russian CW stations now on Shortwave

    Posted: 03 Mar 2022 09:55 AM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/t5xfve/presumed_russian_cw_stations_now_on_shortwave/

Was listening to the special BBC wartime SW broadcast on 15.735 this
afternoon (1600z in EU) and heard a CW station tuning up after the Beeb
    dropped off. Odd, I thought.
So at 1800, I attempted to tune in to their later scheduled broadcast on
5875 and noticed CW at 5775 on my waterfall. Then I looked down the band
and sat a lot more. Heres a sample of what I copied on 5775:
    ric87 ric 87 de rcv rcv qtc 176 90 22 1704 176 = prip noworossijsk 86 ka
    rty 32172 31011 8ereno mores u nik w 22 2100 fej po 2 2100

There were several transmissions, all coming from RIC. I didnt take the
time to put shift-lock on - sorry about that. This was me transcribing on
the keyboard. I used to be a Radio Officer in the US Merchant Marine. Now
Im an Electronics Officer aboard a ship in the North Sea area. My CW skills
    are still there.
Listen up! Im going to keep putting out spots. Heard earlier traffic on
4072 and 4869. There are no shortage of stations between 4 and 6 MHz right
    now.

After a long day of calling CQ on SSTV, I can hear Martin 2 if the room is
    too quiet.

At least it has some rhythm to it, and isn’t a loud screeching noise or something like PSK submitted by /u/alexisandco

    Design of a helix antenna

    Posted: 03 Mar 2022 06:40 AM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/t5t1f4/design_of_a_helix_antenna/

Hello everyone! We are high school students and would like to ask if you
would like to design a helix antenna, what are the most important things to consider like its length, the vswr should be equal to 1 since we are still confuse. Our teacher just instructed that to design an antenna and the type
of antenna given to us is helix antenna and we dont have any idea about it
yet. We searched but it is far comprehensive for us so we dont understand. Thank you. submitted by /u/Less-Young
