Modifying an SGC SG-711 marine SSB transceiver for amateur bands

I picked up this marine SSB transceiver at an electronics recycling centre: photos here
Its a solid state design with a built in tuner. It can do AM and SSB on a
set of fixed frequencies. According to the front panel it was modified for
use in NZ, possibly to add a wider range of frequencies. The ad states 2.0
to 2.85mhz but the labels on mine show frequencies ranging from 2182khz to 10mhz. Is it possible to adjust it for use on the ham bands? Could I add a
VFO to make it frequency agile?
Some other questions:
A label on the back panel shows "DC: white/black" and "AC: white/black, GND green". The lines connected are white and green, so I guess this requires
AC. Would I need to bypass the rectifier to supply this with DC from a
battery?
Can anyone explain what each part of the board is doing?
Does anyone have a copy of the manual for the SG-711?
I will try recapping the boards, are there any other aging components to

80 meters

The other day I made contacts on 40 and 80 m left and right and tonight no
one could even hear me, why? I’m using 20 watts. the other day I was 5/9
with one watt and also 5 W to Bonaire an island above Venezuela that’s
about above 2000 something miles away?
I’m using the same antenna system it’s about 12 feet off the ground it’s a

DMR Talkgroup ID Question

Hi All,
Im new to DMR, I picked up an Anytone AT-D878UVII+ over the weekend and Ive been going through the university course through BridgeCom. So far
everything makes sense, but I check my local DMR repeater and it seems to
have some unusual assignments for talkgroups as opposed to the list I
retrieved from brandmeister. This list you can see North America is
assigned 3 instead of 93, NorCal is 621 and 622 instead of 31068 and 31069.
To use my local repeater then, do I need to set up specific talk groups
with their assignments just to even use it then? submitted by /u/czach

LSB SSB

Why is it that on 17 m when I was in lower side band my wattage stayed up pretty good without even speaking once I spoke my wattage stayed up when I
quit speaking into my microphone? As if it was in FM mode but it wasn’t? I’m using a Xiegu g90. submitted by /u/Routine_Watercress76
