We begin our bulletin with the news of a silent key.

It is with regret that we announce the passing of Roy McKay ZS6RED suddenl
y on 23 March 2022. We extend our sincere condolences to Roy's family and
    friends on their tragic loss.
Roy was an honorary life member of the West Rand Amateur Radio Club and wi
ll always be remembered for his contribution to the constitution and anten
    nas built for the club.

    PAUSE

You are listening to a news bulletin of the South African Radio League.

RADIO FREQUENCY SPECTRUM LICENCES MUST BE PAID BY THURSDAY 31 MARCH 2022!

Radio Amateurs and Radio Clubs, it is your responsibility to pay your li
cence fee for your own call sign, the Club call sign and the Club repeat
    er. The licence fee for 2022/23 is: 1 year - R166.00; 2 years - R317.00; 3
    years - R455.00; 4 years - R579.00 and 5 years - R692.00.

If you are registered on the ICASA Customer Portal (https://sarl.us5.list- manage.com/track/click?u'b05a8cba9589bf8d019e5d3&id>dcdf8108&eœe7bd785b), you can pay by credit card and almost immediately get
a copy of your new licence.

You can pay your licence fee by EFT - ICASA, Nedbank Corporate Client se rvices, Account no. 14 62 00 29 27, Branch 146245. Use YOUR ICASA lice
nse number no and call sign, e.g., "10098765 - ZS75RZS" as the payment
reference. Send a copy of the EFT payment to specrev@icasa.org.za (mailto :specrev@icasa.org.za) . Keep the Proof of Payment in a safe place, it i
s your proof that the licence has been paid.

If you are registered on the ICASA Customer Portal, upload a copy of the
Proof of Payment to the system. The ICASA officials will check the paymen
t against the bank statement and if satisfied will then approve your licen
ce which you can download a day or two later.

AMATEUR LICENCES MANAGED BY THE SARL

On 29 January 2022 an e-mail was sent to all radio amateurs whose licence
is managed by the SARL, this covers the last 6 RAEs. As per the welcomi
ng letter sent to successful candidates following the RAE, the SARL is c urrently managing your Amateur Radio Licence because of limitations on the
ICASA system. However, it is your responsibility to pay your licence fe
e directly to ICASA as explained above.

Once you have completed the EFT, forward the proof of payment to ICASA a
t specrev@icasa.org.za (mailto:specrev@icasa.org.za) as well as to the SAR
    L Administrator at admin@sarl.org.za (mailto:admin@sarl.org.za) . Once the
SARL has received the proof of payment, it will be uploaded to the ICAS
A online system for approval. When approved we will forward the licence to
    you.

Unfortunately, many of these Radio Amateurs have not sent a copy of the
Proof of Payment to Kelley Dorey, the SARL Administrator, thus the IC
ASA system cannot be updated and no licence will be issued. Please send th
e proof of payment to Kelley as soon as possible.

    JS8CALL ACTIVITY PERIOD THIS WEEKEND

The Region 1 EMCOR Coordinator Greg, G0DUB has provided a message format
taken from the standard IARU message form and that Grant, ZS1GS has pre viously reviewed and posted videos on the SARL HAMNET South Africa YouTube
    channel www.youtube.com/channel/UCCnZW9Eu74ygPCFXen2AAEg/videos.

Greg, G0DUB says in his note, "The bands may be congested but contests
are a fact of life every weekend and emergencies will still happen. Emerg encies can happen at any time and people may not be available, or availa
ble all the time, the contests and Mother's Day will simulate that. Fina
lly, this is an 'activity period,' if people can increase their experi
ence with the mode and exchange messages with people, they can work them
, that is still a success."

Let us practice our message passing skills using JS8call, see you on the
    air from 10:00 UTC onwards.

RADIO FREKWENSIE SPEKTRUM LISENSIE MOET TEEN DONDERDAG 31 MAART 2022 BETAA
    L WORD!

Gebruik J
OU OKOSA-lisensie nommer en roepsein, bv. "10098765 - ZS75RZS" as die be talings-verwysing.

Wanneer dit goed gekeur word, sal on

Stuur asseblief die bewys van betaling so gou moontlik a
    an Kelley.
