GET ON THE AIR FOR WORLD AMATEUR RADIO DAY

Monday 18 April is World Amateur Radio Day. It is also a public holiday en
ding the Easter Weekend. It was on 18 April 1925 that the International Am ateur Radio Union (IARU) was founded during the International Radiotelegra
ph Conference in Paris. That is why radio amateurs worldwide celebrate thi
s day with special activities every year.

How have you progressed with contacts for your SARL WARD Certificate? You
still have until 18:00 UTC on Monday 18 April to get the QSOs. This after
noon you can participate in the ZS4 QSO Party to add to your total. Work a
s many radio amateurs as possible during the weekend, PLUS at least two
    (2) SARL Councillors (there are 10) and at least three (3) Radio Club sta tions, excluding your own Club station! Send your application for the 20
    22 WARD Certificate to secretary@sarl.org.za (mailto:secretary@sarl.org.za
) by 21:59 UTC on Thursday 21 April 2022. Jan, ZT4T will be active on 18
April on 7,100 and 3,700 MHz.

You are listening to a news bulletin of the South African Radio League.

    CLUB NEWS

The Boland ARC are changing their bulletin time from Sunday 24 April. From
next Sunday BARK bulletin will be broadcast on Sunday mornings at 07:45 C
AT on 3 730 kHz and then at 09:15 CAT the broadcast will be on the 145,6
50 MHz repeater on Du Toitskloof as the anchor repeater. There will be a r
elay on 7 092 kHz. The bulletin will also be available on Echolink at 09:1
    5 by linking to ZU9ACG-R.

    SATELLITE NEWS

With more and more satellites being launched regularly and quite a few ama
teur radio satellites in the mix, it has never been a better time to pla
y with satellites. Whether it is making contacts, decoding pictures from
the ISS, or tracking and decoding telemetry, there is something for e
veryone. In the spirit of sharing information and creating a South African
community around amateur radio we have kicked off a website to gather all
kinds of interesting news and information around activities and also a ne
w documentation project to create a central point of information and tutor
ials for playing with satellites. These are all relatively new and are â
"work in progress," but there is already enough information
to get started. This is an attempt to get more interest in satellites to
build our local community. You can find the main HamsatSA site at www.ham satsa.co.za and the documentation project at www.satellitemanual.com

Please send us pictures of your satellite station and tell us about your a dventures. Many more activities are planned, feedback is always welcomed
    .

RESULTS OF THE SARL 80 M CLUB QSO PARTY

The results of the SARL 80 Meter QSO Party, hosted by the Durban ARC,
will only be available for next Sunday's Bulletin. This is due to the pow
er failure in our areas, which, hopefully, will be restored by next
    week.

    PROPAGATION REPORT

Hannes Coetzee, ZS6BZP, reports that the solar activity is expected to
be at low levels. There are currently four sunspots with simple magnetic
configurations visible. The probability for flaring is low. If you want t
o do your own frequency predictions, the expected effective sunspot numb
er for the week will be around 41. The 10 to 30 m bands will, especially
in the late afternoon, provide some good DX fun. Please visit the websi
    te spaceweather.sansa.org.za for further information.

. Jy kan die hoof HamsatSA webwerf by www.hamsatsa.co.za vind en die dokum entasie projek by www.satellitemanual.com.

Stuur vir ons fotos van jou satelliet stasie en vertel ons van jou avontur
