How VFO Radios are seen by the Media/Layperson

Hard eye roll on this one. I doubt they had a robust operational plan. Were they frequency hopping? Likely not. A fast scanner or wideband SDR with waterfall, and it really shouldnt be that hard to track. Military and police-grade scanners should eat that up for breakfast.
Prosecutors have said the Proud Boys arranged for members to communicate
using specific frequencies on Baofeng radios. The Chinese-made devices can
be programmed for use on hundreds of frequencies, making it difficult for outsiders to eavesdrop.
But I know our hobby is strange to the layperson. But I have to admit,
reading that a Baofeng makes it hard to track and listen in on made me spit
out my coffee this morning. Imagine if they used DMR and talk groups!!!!!
TENS OF THOUSANDS OF TALK GROUP NUMBERS!!!! TENS OF THOUSANDS!!!!!!!
Im refraining from posting the full article as I dont want to turn this
into a political discussion. submitted by /u/aacmckay
