With the reduction in price for the General Mobile Radio System license,
there may be a marketing opportunity for amateur radio there.
Does your club sponsor a local GMRS repeater? Tell folks about it in
comments.
The local repeater in Manhattan, KS issues weather warnings over the air automatically.
There's a GMRS linked system in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado with a weekly net.
The GMRS market may be attracting new folks ... and offering an opportunity
to attract new amateur radio folks.
A number of hams are also actively involved in GMRS and actively discussing amateur radio there. It seems like fertile ground for attracting new
users, especially young people to the BEST hobby on the Planet.
If you hear WTRE806 on, ask him about amateur radio.
