The next Youth on the Air Camp for the Americas has been scheduled for Jul
y 16-21, 2023 at Carleton University in Ottawa. This is an excellent opp ortunity for Amateur Radio clubs to help build the leadership of tomorrow.

the local host for this event. The main organizers are Roger Egan, VA3E
GY, and Harrie Jones, VE3HYS, at yota2023@rac.ca (mailto:yota2023@ra

Youth On The Air (YOTA) is a program for and by young Amateur Radio operat
ors in the Americas, closely modelled after the Youngsters On The Air pr
ogram in Region 1 (Europe, Africa and Middle East) of the International
Amateur Radio Union (IARU). The goal of the program is to build skills an
d foster lasting friendships and mentors with younger Amateurs.

Youth On The Air Camp is for Amateur Radio operators between the ages of 1
5 to 25. A total of 30 campers will be accepted.

Come to YOTA camp and we’ll teach you all kinds of cutting-edge te
chnology that can be used with Amateur Radio and connect you to other youn
g Amateurs and mentors in North, Central and South America.

Already an expert? We’re looking for young Amateurs to take their
knowledge to the next level and share their previous knowledge with other
young Amateurs. The camp will focus on building strong relationships with
peers and mentors, and developing new radio skills.

Campers will operate a special event station, featuring cutting-edge HF
and VHF/UHF radios that many only dream of having a chance to use â€
“ and a wide array of antennas.

Applications schedule:
* Applications begin December 1, 2022.
* Applications completed by January 15, 2023 and first time attendees wi
ll be given priority.
* We will accept applications through May 31, 2023.

Applicants must be certified Amateur Radio operators residing in North,
Central or South America between the ages of 15 and 25. We welcome all Am ateurs in our region who meet these requirements.

Cost: The application process is free and the cost of the camp is $100 USD
plus transportation to and from the Carleton University. The $100 USD fee
will not be payable until after acceptance. Should a potential camper not
be able to afford the fee, they may apply for a scholarship.

Sponsorship: This is an excellent opportunity for Amateur Radio clubs to h
elp build the leadership of tomorrow.

Important: We know that changes in the COVID-19 pandemic status between no
w and July will have an impact on hosting the camp. Should we not be able
to host the camp or if we need to reschedule, we will let everyone know
with as much notice as possible.

Radio Amateurs du Canada a le plaisir d’annoncer que le prochain C
amp des jeunes sur les ondes pour les Amériques aura lieu du 16 au 21
juillet à l’Université Carleton, à Ottawa.

Une équipe composée de bénévoles de RAC se chargera,
au niveau local, d’accueillir les participants. Les principaux

©té créé à l’intention des jeunes opéra
teurs radio amateurs des Amériques et est destiné à êt
re exécuté par eux, en s’inspirant de très prÃ
¨s du programme Jeunes sur les ondes dans la Région 1 (Europe, Af
rique et Moyen-Orient) de l’Union internationale des radio amateur
s (IARU). L’objectif de ce programme est de favoriser l’ac
quisition de compétences et de promouvoir la formation d’amit
iés durables et le mentorat auprès des jeunes amateurs.

Le Camp des jeunes sur les ondes est destiné aux opérateurs radi
o amateurs âgés de 15 à 25 ans. Au total, 30 campeurs ser
ont acceptés.

Venez au Camp YOTA et nous vous apprendrons à vous familiariser avec
une vaste gamme de techniques issues des tout derniers progrès qui p
euvent être utilisées dans le domaine de la radio amateur et vou
s permettront d’établir des liens avec d’autres jeune
s opérateurs et des mentors de l’Amérique du Nord, cen
trale et du Sud.

Êtes-vous déjà un expert en la matière? Nous sommes
à la recherche de jeunes amateurs qui souhaitent faire passer leurs
connaissances au niveau suivant et partager leurs acquis avec d’a
utres jeunes opérateurs. Le camp mettra fortement l’accent su
r la création de liens solides avec les pairs et les mentors, ainsi
que sur l’acquisition de nouvelles compétences dans le domai
ne de la radio.

Les campeurs assureront le fonctionnement d’une station pour Ã
©vénement spécial qui comportera des matériels HF et VHF/
UHF à la fine pointe de la technologie, c’est-à -dire d
es appareils si perfectionnés qu’ils sont hors de la portÃ
©e d’un grand nombre d’entre nous, même pour une
utilisation temporaire, ainsi qu’une large gamme d’ante
nnes.

La date fixée pour commencer à recevoir les demandes d’i
nscription est le 1^er décembre 2022. Les demandes reçues au plu
s tard le 15 janvier 2023 et celles présentées par les jeunes pa
rticipant pour la première fois à cet événement bÃ
©néficieront d’un traitement prioritaire.

La date de clôture prévue pour la réception des demandes es
t le 31 mai 2023.

Les formalités de présentation des demandes sont gratuites. Les
frais d’inscription au camp sont de 100 $US, auxquels sâ€
™ajouteront les frais de déplacement aller-retour à prévo
ir entre votre domicile et l’Université Carleton. Ces frais d
e 100 $ US ne devront être acquittés qu’après lâ
€™acceptation de la demande. Si une campeur potentiel le n’a p
as les moyens d’acquitter ces frais, il pourra présenter un
e demande de bourse.

Parrainage : Les clubs de radio amateurs peuvent profiter d’une ex
cellente occasion de collaborer à la formation des dirigeants de dema
in.

Important : Nous savons que l’évolution de la situation en ce
qui concerne la pandémie de COVID-19 entre aujourd’hui et ju
illet aura un effet sur les conditions d’organisation du camp. Au
cas où nous ne serions pas en mesure d’accueillir les campeu
rs, ou encore si nous devons modifier les dates, nous veillerons Ã
en informer tous les participants dans les meilleurs délais.
