Op 4 September 2022 is 'n SARL-kommunikasie uitgestuur met inligting oor d
ie verskillende toekennings en trofeë en hoe om iemand vir 'n toekenn
ing te nomineer. Die inligting is ook op bladsy 7 van die Oktober 2022 Rad
io ZS, bladsy 6 van die November 2022 Radio ZS en bladsy 22 van die Dese
mber 2022 Radio ZS. Die nominasie vorms vir die toekennings kan gevind wor
d by www.sarl.org.za/members/Awards/AwardsDirectory.asp. Versamel asseblie
f al die handtekeninge op een dokument en dien dit dan by die SARL-sekreta
ris in.
SARL-lede word uit genooi om mosies vir bespreking by die AJV in te dien.
Klubs word uit genooi om 'n mosie in te dien om die 2024 SARL AJV en Toek ennings dinee aan te bied. Die mosie dokumente kan gevind word op www.sarl .org.za/members/agm/AGMMembers.asp.
In gevolge Reël 16.9 sal vyf Raadslede by die 2023 AJV uittree. Hierd
ie Raadslede stel hulle beskikbaar vir herverkiesing. 'n Uittredende lid k
an homself vir herverkiesing aanbied slegs indien hy voorgestel en gesekon
deer word soos in hierdie reëls voorsiening gemaak word. Die Raad-ben
oemings dokument bevat al die kriteria vir nominasie en kan gevind word by

e 2023 Dagboek van Gebeure. Die dokument sal nou gefinaliseer en na die SA RL-webwerf opgelaai word.

DIE ARRL 10-METER KOMPETISIE
Die doel van die kompetisie is dat amateurs wêreld wyd inligting met
soveel stasies as moontlik op die 10-meter-band kan uit ruil. Die kompeti
sie duur van 00:00 UTC op Saterdag 10 Desember tot 23:59 UTC op Sondag 11
Desember. Werk vir 'n maksimum van 36 uur uit die 48-uur periode en af ty
e moet ten minste 30 minute lank wees. Jy kan foon en GG gebruik en mag st asies een keer per modus kontak. Vir die uitruiling stuur alle stasies 'n
sein verslag, stasies in die VSA, Kanada en Mexiko sal hul staat of p
rovinsie afkorting stuur terwyl al die ander 'n reeksnommer sal stuur. Mar itieme mobiele stasies stuur die ITU-streek (1, 2 of 3). Elke foon konta
k tel vir twee (2) QSO-punte en elke GG-kontak tel vir vier (4) QSO-punte.

It is with sadness that we announce that the key of Nick Curwell ZS1ZD,
has gone silent. Nick was a long-standing member of the Cape Town Amateur
Radio Centre, serving on the committee for many years. He moved to Unio
ndale three years ago after the passing of his wife. We extend our condole
nces to his family and friends.

A CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR SARL AWARDS AND TROPHIES
On 4 September 2022, a SARL communication was sent out with information
about the various awards and trophies and how to nominate someone for an
award. The information is also on page 7 of the October 2022 Radio ZS,
page 6 of the November 2022 Radio ZS and page 22 of the December 2022 Rad
io ZS. The nomination forms for the awards can be found at www.sarl.org.za /members/Awards/AwardsDirectory.asp. Please collect all the signatures on
one document and then submit it to the SARL Secretary.
SARL members are invited to submit motions for discussion at the AGM. Club
s are invited to submit a motion to host the 2024 SARL AGM and Awards Dinn
er. The motion documents can be found on www.sarl.org.za/members/agm/AGMMe mbers.asp.
In terms of Rule 16.9, five councillors will be stepping down at the 202
3 AGM. These councillors may stand for re-election. A retiring member may
offer himself for re-election only if he is proposed and seconded as prov
ided for in these rules. The Council nomination document contains all the
criteria for nomination and can be found at www.sarl.org.za/members/agm/A GMMembers.asp.

THE ARRL 10-METRE CONTEST
The aim of the contest is for amateurs worldwide to exchange information w
ith as many stations as possible on the 10-metre band. The contest runs fr
om 00:00 UTC on Saturday 10 December to 23:59 UTC on Sunday 11 December. O perate for a maximum of 36 hours out of the 48-hour period and off times m
ust be at least 30 minutes long. You can use phone and CW and may contact
stations once per mode. For the exchange, all stations send a signal re
port, stations in the USA, Canada and Mexico will send their state or
province abbreviation while all other will send a serial number. Maritime
mobile stations send the ITU Region (1, 2 or 3). Each phone contact cou
nts for two (2) QSO points and each CW contact counts for four (4) QSO poi
nts. The rules are available as a PDF document at www.arrl.org/10-meter.
CONTEST NEWS
Three (3) logs were received for the second leg of the SARL VHF/UHF SSB co ntest held on 12 and 13 November. It was determined that nine stations par ticipated in the contest
