    Limerick Clare Amateur Radio Club

Limerick Clare Amateur Radio Club report that the following officers
and committee will be responsible for the management of the club for
the coming year following their recent AGM: Chairman Dermot Gleeson
EI2GT, Secretary Joe Ryan EI9HG, and Treasurer Liam Rainford EI7DSB.
Committee members are Gerry Gervin EI8CC, John Phelan EI4EJ, Michael
Kingston EI2IX, and Diarmuid Ó Briain EI4LF. The club's IRTS
representatives are Simon Kenny EI7ALB and Gerry Gervin EI8CC.

The club wishes to thank everyone who supported their recent rally
including traders, individual sellers, and those attending. This
support is much appreciated. The IRTS stand had copies of the HAREC
Study Guide hot off the presses and these deservedly attracted a lot of
interest and sales. The club congratulates IRTS Vice President and Club
member Robbie EI2IP, who was the lucky winner of the star prize in
    their raffle; a 60-minute Boeing 737 - 800 NG Flight Simulator
Experience, presented courtesy of the Shannon Aviation Museum.

Club participation in the Engineers Ireland Week is an annual event and
this year they were glad to host a number of groups, comprising over
200 students in all at the club station, callsign EI4SAM, at the
Shannon Aviation Museum. The station continues to be activated every
Saturday from 11.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The initial calling frequency is
7.123 MHz, plus or minus QRM and other bands are monitored also.
Callers and visitors are always welcome.

Their next club meeting will be held on Thursday March 14th in the
University of the Shannon, Midlands, Midwest at Moylish, Limerick.
Liam, EI7DSB will give a presentation on building Raspberry Pi projects
including an internet radio and a short-wave receiver.

    Update from Collective Communication

EI3CC is seeking operators for next Sunday 17th March. Whether you have
an amateur radio license or not they are inviting you to enjoy St.
Patrick's Day in Tramore, Co Waterford where Collective Communication
will be participating in the parade and afterwards demonstrating
amateur radio to the public using their purpose-built Radio
Communications Unit. If you haven't got your own license they will
buddy you with an experienced radio amateur. After watching how radio
contacts are made and conducted, you'll be invited to have a go on the
radio yourself. While you operate the radio, your mentor will be
sitting right alongside you logging the calls that you make. There'll
be nothing to worry about because you'll be shown everything and
allowed to practice before going on air. It couldn't be simpler.

The club invites you to put a note in your diary and come and join
their dynamic club at the seaside on St. Patrick's Day or simply drop
by, say hello, have a chat, a cuppa, and even a chocolate biscuit. For
further information, call their club secretary, John EI3HQB, on 086 870
    9265.

Two-meter FM will be sparked into action again across Ireland and Great
Britain on May 11th for another 145 Alive Event and full details will
be announced in the coming weeks. Anyone interested in setting up
control stations is asked to contact David Gardiner EI3IXB. Locations
and frequencies will be coordinated on a first come first serve basis
so get in early as they ran out of frequencies last September due to
the demand. Interest in organising control stations is particularly
requested from the west and northwest as these areas were quiet last
time out. David EI3IXB may be contacted via email at ei3ixb /at/
