RUMOR: Things Wont Look The Same. WWE Planning Major Change For SmackDown
Live On FOX.

https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/rumor-things-wont-look-wwe-planning-major-change-smackdown-live-fox/
Things are going to be a bit different. We’re rapidly approaching
SmackDown Live’s debut on FOX, which is going to provide the biggest change to WWE’s television product in years. This is the kind of thing that WWE
has never been able to make work in decades and now we are going to see
what WWE can do on this stage. It turns out that we might be seeing a
change in the presentation as well.
According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE has been testing out a variety of different technologies for their debut episode of SmackDown Live
on FOX. The series is likely to have a more cinematic feeling to it with a style based more on the look of a show like WWE 24. WWE has already tested
out some material and is said to be happy with what they saw. SmackDown
Live moves to FOX on October 4.
When the move to FOX happens, expect SmackDown to be shot with different cameras. WWE tested out some newer, much more expensive technology recently
and said to have liked what it produced. It will seem cinematic like,
similar to some WWE24 footage.
- WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) July 30, 2019
This is how WWE 24 looks. Check out a clip from the series:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: You had to know something like this was going to happen but at the same time, it isn’t clear exactly how something like this is going to go.
WWE knows how to present its televisions shows like almost no one else and under the right circumstances and on the right platform, they could be able
to offer something even better than what we have already seen before.
How should WWE present SmackDown Live on FOX? What should take place on
the show? Let us know in the comments below.

The McMahon Effect. WWE Publicly Changes SmackDown Live Main Event Three Times.

https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/mcmahon-effect-wwe-publicly-changes-smackdown-live-main-event-three-times/
In case things seemed off. This week’s SmackDown Live felt like it was a little bit different as things kept moving at a bit of a faster pace. This
was likely due to the influence of Eric Bischoff, who has started running
the show with some of his influences taking hold last week. However, Vince McMahon is still the boss and that was the case on this week’s show in particular.
On Tuesday, WWE announced a total of three main events for this week’s SmackDown Live, with the first two being canceled throughout the day.
First the main event was announced as New Day vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Elias. Then, according to 411mania.com, the match was changed to New Day vs. the
OC in a six man tag (WWE’s tweet has been deleted but the link includes a screen shot). Finally, the match that actually aired was Kofi Kingston vs.
AJ Styles. The changes seem to have taken place as McMahon decided to
change the match multiple times.
And finally, @shanemcmahons allies @IAmEliasWWE & @DMcIntyreWWE look to
silence #TheNewDays @XavierWoodsPhD & @WWEBigE this Tuesday on #SDLive!

Here’s what finally took place:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: This isn’t the best idea in the world and I have a bad feeling
about where this is going to go. At the end of the day, you have to have something sane going on, and if the show is literally going to be changed
three times from the time the match is set up to the time the show started,
it isn’t going to end well. Hopefully things settle down, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
Does this present a bad precedent? How bad is McMahon for SmackDown Live?

You Might Remember This One. What Were This Weeks SmackDown Lives Dark Matches?
Posted: 31 Jul 2019 01:03 AM PDT
https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/might-remember-one-weeks-smackdown-lives-dark-matches/
The old standards. A night at a wrestling show can be a rather interesting night with all of the stuff that you get to see in one evening. That is
almost always the case with the WWE on a Thursday night, which has four
stages of wrestling throughout the night. While the main attraction is SmackDown Live and the secondary attraction is 205 Live, there is usually a dark match both before and after the two shows. That was the case again
this week.
As is usually the case, there was a pair of dark matches on Tuesday night
with a match both before SmackDown Live and one after SmackDown Live.
According to Wrestlinginc.com, the match before the show saw Heavy
Machinery defeat the B Team. According to 411mania.com, the match after
the show saw SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley successfully defend the
title against Charlotte. These matches have been run as dark matches
several times in recent weeks.
The second match has happened before. Check out Bayley vs. Charlotte when
the cameras were on:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: While it might seem repetitive, these matches are constantly being
put on in these spots because they work well for what they do. Heavy
Machinery is a fun team that makes the crowd feel like they’re having a
good time and Bayley is the exact same thing. If nothing else, it always
helps to have a title match to wrap things up, just for the sake of having something on the line.
Which of these matches sounds better? Will Heavy Machinery ever win the
Tag Team Titles? Let us know in the comments below.

The First Of Many. AEW Makes Big Announcement About First Show On TNT.
Posted: 31 Jul 2019 01:00 AM PDT
https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/first-many-aew-makes-big-announcement-about-first-show-on-tnt/
That’s where it starts. We’re rapidly closing in on the debut of AEW’s weekly television show and that means things are going to get a lot more interesting in wrestling in a hurry. With so many things changing in
wrestling so fast, a lot can still be said about setting things in stone in advance. That is something AEW has already done, over two months before it actually happens.
Via their official Twitter, AEW’s first match on their weekly TNT series
will see Cody vs. Sammy Guevara. AEW had previously announced that Cody
would be in the match but no opponent had been announced. Cody is one of
the company’s founders and executives and Guevara is a wrestler who has wrestled on two of AEW’s first three shows. AEW debuts on TNT on October 2.
It’s going to be a big night. Check out the trailer for AEW’s first show: [This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: There are going to be some complaints made about Cody being in
such a prominent role in so many AEW matches, but at the same time he is
one of the major reasons that AEW is here. His work in AEW has been quite
good for the most part so far and some star power is the way you want to
start your new series. Throw in Guevara’s high flying talents and this
makes a lot of sense.
Is this a good first match? What else should be on the show? Let us know
in the comments below.

Is Anyone Keeping A Running List? Aleister Black Has Another Fight At Summerslam And We Know Who It Is.
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 06:43 PM PDT
https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/anyone-keeping-running-list-yet-another-match-added-summerslam/
Keep growing the card. We’re less than two weeks away from Summerslam,
which you can certainly tell given how fast everything is happening on the regular TV shows. The matches are being added to the card as fast as
possible, mainly with the wrestlers making a lot of the matches
themselves. That was the case with another match, which was added on TV
this week.
This week on SmackDown Live, Aleister Black issued another challenge to
anyone willing to pick a fight with him. Later on in the show, Sami Zayn volunteered to be the one to fight Black and the match was made for
Summerslam. Black had spent several weeks asking for someone to pick a
fight with him until Cesaro accepted the challenge for Extreme Rules.
Black went on to defeat Cesaro at the pay per view and then again in a
rematch.
We’ve been here before. Check out Black having a fight:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: This one feels like a way to get some more people on the show and I’m not sure how good of an idea that is. The card is already starting to get too big as the matches are added to the card every single week. It
might be a good idea to hit the brakes a bit, though Black has been sitting around waiting for so long that he needs to get in the ring on the big
stage sooner rather than later.
Do you like this match? How do you see it going? Let us know in the
comments below.

Its A Big One. Dream Match Officially Announced For Summerslam.
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 06:21 PM PDT
https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/big-one-dream-match-officially-announced-summerslam/
There’s the dream match. Summerslam is in less than two weeks and the
rapid fire buildup is certainly upon us. Some of the matches have already
been set but due to the very short turnaround time between Extreme Rules
and Summerslam, a lot of the matches are not getting a lot of time to get ready. Several of them have been made this week, including a big time
dream match.
This week on SmackDown Live, Trish Stratus was a guest on the King’s Court with Jerry Lawler. During the segment, Lawler asked her if she ever wanted
one more dream match. Stratus said she did, though she was busy being a
mom. This brought out Charlotte, who challenged Stratus for Summerslam.
The challenge was accepted and the match was made. This will be Stratus’ first singles match since 2011.
Stratus hasn’t been in the ring as much in recent years but she still has
it. Check out one of her recent in-ring moments:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: This is the right way to go as Charlotte has won the Women’s Title so many times already that it doesn’t matter anymore. She needs another
kind of challenge and that is what Stratus can offer her. It’s an actual dream match for a change and that is the kind of thing that they need to
do. WWE can’t keep running the same thing over and over again and expect
it to work, so switching things up a bit is the right idea.
Are you excited for the match? How do you see it going? Let us know in
the comments below.

Theyre Doing It Again. Grudge Match Set For Summerslam.
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 05:58 PM PDT
https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/theyre-grudge-match-set-summerslam/
Here we go again. There are some rivalries in wrestling that will just
never die. Some of these are better than others and the best ones are the matches that never get old no matter what the people are doing. They don’t happen often but when they’re firing on all cylinders, things can’t be much better. There’s just one problem: that’s not what we’re doing right now.
As announced on WWE.com, the Miz will face Dolph Ziggler at Summerslam in a grudge match. The two have had issues since Ziggler insulted Miz’s wife Maryse on a recent episode of MizTV. The feud expanded to include Shawn Michaels, who Ziggler attacked on last week’s SmackDown Live, with Miz chasing Ziggler off. The two have feuded on and off for years, including a match at Summerslam 2014.
You wouldn’t like him when he’s angry. Check out Miz attacking Ziggler to start things up again:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: You kind of had to know this was coming and I’d rather have something like this than seeing Ziggler vs. Goldberg as they seemed to be hinting at over the last few weeks. The Michaels part wasn’t really
needed, though that being said having these two fighting each other again isn’t needed either. It never was a great feud in the first place and
seeing it again isn’t the most thrilling thing in the world.
Do you like the idea of this match? How do you see it going? Let us know
in the comments below.

SmackDown Live Coverage And Results - July 30, 2019
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 04:51 PM PDT
https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/smackdown-live-coverage-results-july-30-2019/
Smackdown
Date: July 30, 2019
Location: FedExForum, Memphis, Tennessee
Commentators: Tom Phillips, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton
We’re in still getting ready for Summerslam and in this case we need to
hurry up and get some more stuff set with less than two weeks to go before
the show. This time around we have Trish Stratus on Jerry Lawler’s King’s Court and….I’m not sure what for the main event as WWE has announced three different main events for the show today alone. Let’s get to it.
We open with Shane McMahon on the screen, talking about how Kevin Owens has been getting to him. His life coach has told him to get his emotions in
check though because Shane has exactly what he wants at Summerslam. After
Shane beats him, Owens is going to have to admit that Shane is the better
man and quit in front of 20,000 people.
Here’s Kevin Owens for a chat. It’s a sad night because SHANE MCMAHON IS NOT HERE but we can get through it together. Owens is near teas but says
that without Shane, maybe the show can be about the talent instead of McMahon’s stupid face. Just make sure that the stupid face is at Summerslam because Owens is going to beat Shane as badly as he deserves.
Then Shane will know that he does not belong in the ring. Shane isn’t going to quit, but he’ll know that this isn’t his ring or his show, because this is the Kevin Owens Show. This brings out Drew McIntyre to say Owens talks
too much and he’ll shut Kevin up tonight. The fight is on with Owens going into the post and over the announcers’ table. Actually let’s just do it now.
Kevin Owens vs. Drew McIntyre
Owens goes straight at him to start and walks into a belly to belly suplex
for his efforts. The armbar goes on for a bit and Drew clotheslines him
right back down. Another belly to belly gets two but Owens sends him into
the post. The Cannonball connects and Owens goes up, headbutts McIntyre
back down, and hits the frog splash for two.
Back from a break with Owens hitting the Swanton for no cover. The Stunner
is blocked and McIntyre gets two off a swinging sitout Rock Bottom. The Claymore is blocked with a superkick and Owens hits the Pop Up Powerbomb
for two. McIntyre is right back up with a super White Noise for two and
they head outside. The Stunner on the announcers’ table rocks McIntyre and the regular version back inside finishes him off at 13:31.
Result: Kevin Owens b. Drew McIntyre Stunner (13:31)
Dolph Ziggler doesn’t care about what fans thought of him after
superkicking Shawn Michaels last week. Then Mick Foley got beaten up by the Fiend and Goldberg had a horrible match. Now Shawn is upset and Miz is
going to defend Shawn’s honor at Summerslam. Miz isn’t even the best wrestler in his house and Ziggler is more scared of Maryse. Tonight,
Ziggler will deal with Finn Balor.
Bayley and Ember Moon are ready for tonight.
Aleister Black is sitting in his room again and says he feels different.
His redemption lies in the blood of his soul. He received some of his
salvation when Cesaro picked a fight with him and Black salutes him. But
how does he move on from here and write the next chapters of his book? Once again he sits here, now a bit less patiently, for someone to pick a fight
with him.
Ember Moon/Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss/Nikki Cross
Moon kicks Bliss in the face to start and it’s already off to Bayley, who drops Bliss face first onto the turnbuckle. That sends Bliss outside for Bayley’s dropkick under the buckle and Moon dives onto Cross. Back with
Cross tying Bayley up in the ring skirt so Bliss can hit a baseball slide. Bayley fights back, sends Cross to the floor, jumps over Bliss, and brings
Moon back in to pick up the pace. Bliss saves Cross from the Eclipse though
and sends Moon shoulder first into the post. A right hand drops Bayley and Twisted Bliss finishes Moon at 6:29.
Result: Alexa Bliss/Nikki Cross b. Ember Moon/Bayley Twisted Bliss to Moon (6:29)
Post match Bayley gives Moon the Bayley to Belly to make up for last week.
Sami Zayn is here to check out the competition but only sees people complaining. One person in particular seems to be Aleister Black. If Black wants a fight, Sami will give him one at Summerslam, where Black will melt under the bright lights.
Daniel Bryan has a chance to make his career changing announcement but
again says nothing.
It’s time for the King’s Court with Jerry Lawler bringing out Trish Stratus as his guest. Lawler talks about Raw Reunion and everyone wanting to have
one last match. He asks if Trish ever has that feeling and we get a ONE
MORE MATCH chant. Trish says she can never get rid of that itch but she’s a mom now and has to do those kinds of things. Cue Charlotte to say you can’t have King’s Court without a queen, but she has a big question: how is she
not on Summerslam yet?
Charlotte congratulates Trish on being a mom and, after having Lawler hold
the ropes open for her, calls it an excuse. Charlotte makes the challenge
for Summerslam but Trish doesn’t say anything. That’s fine, as Charlotte knows Trish can’t hang with the queen anyway. Charlotte tells her to get
out of the ring so Trish calls her a b**** . Trish talks about how there
would be no throne for Charlotte without the trailblazers like Trish, Lita, Ivory, Beth Phoenix and others. To be the woman you have to beat the woman
so the match is on.
The OC is ready to show Kofi Kingston that this is the house that AJ Styles built.
It’s time for the Firefly Fun House. Ramblin Rabbit is excited for
Summerslam because he’s a Finn Balor fan. Balor flies through the air and
is extraordinary, but the Fiend is scary. Finn doesn’t understand what he’s getting into but here’s a laughing Bray Wyatt to chase Ramblin off. Bray
gets serious and says let him in.
We look back at Brock Lesnar attacking Seth Rollins last night.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Finn Balor
Joined in progress with Ziggler charging into a boot to the face and a Nightmare on Helm Street giving Balor two. Ziggler is right back with the Fameasser but spends too much time tuning up the band. Balor knocks him outside….and there go the lights. The Fiend appears, but then disappears, allowing Ziggler to hit the superkick for the pin at 2:59 shown.
Result: Dolph Ziggler b. Finn Balor Superkick (2:59)
Ali vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
Non-title. Ali dropkicks him to the floor to start and nails a high
crossbody for two back inside. Nakamura avoids a charge but Ali is right
back with the rolling X Factor. It’s too early for the 054 though and Nakamura nails the reverse exploder. Kinshasa is blocked with a superkick
for two but the 450 misses. Nakamura knees him in the face and tries
Kinshasa again, though this time Ali rolls him up for the pin at 2:18.
Result: Ali b. Shinsuke Nakamura Rollup (2:18)
Randy Orton talks about Kofi Kingston saying this had all started in 2009
so let’s talk about 2009. By then, Orton had won World Titles and main evented Wrestlemania so all he had to do was be Randy Orton. Kofi didn’t
have that luxury so he developed the personality of being the fun guy who danced a lot. That wasn’t cool with Orton so he RKO’ed him and called him stupid, which we see in clips. If you tick Orton off, you go back to the
bottom of the ladder.
We jump ahead to 2019 and Ali is the new Kofi Kingston. Orton injured Ali
to take him out of the Elimination Chamber and Kofi got the spot instead.
There is no Kofi Mania without Orton so Kofi wants to prove himself. That’s stupid, stupid, stupid and the title reign is ending with an RKO.
New Day is in the back and ready to go with the main event. This could be a main event anywhere in the country and Kofi is going to show AJ Styles why
this isn’t the house that AJ Styles built.
AJ Styles vs. Kofi Kingston
Non-title with New Day and the OC at ringside. AJ grabs a headlock to start
but Kofi flips him over, allowing Styles to hit a dropkick to put him down. Back up and Kofi hits the jumping elbow to the jaw but misses Trouble in Paradise. AJ gets clotheslined to the floor and Kofi loads up a dive, only
to get blocked by the OC. Kofi dives anyway but AJ hits a knee to the face
off the apron.
We take a break and come back with AJ hammering on Kofi and putting him on
top. Kofi knocks him back down and hits a tornado DDT, followed by the
dropkick and clothesline. There’s the Boom Drop and standing double stomp
for two, followed by the SOS for the same. AJ is right back with an
enziguri but gets kicked in the ribs. The top rope splash to the back gets
two on AJ with the OC pulling Kofi out at two. The brawl breaks out on the floor and Kofi dives onto everyone. Back in and AJ’s fireman’s carry backbreaker connects but the Phenomenal Forearm lands on Trouble in
Paradise to give Kofi the pin at 12:53.
Result: Kofi Kingston b. AJ Styles Trouble in Paradise (12:53)
We IMMEDIATELY cut to the back with Roman Reigns walking up to announce his Summerslam challenge…..and then someone drives what looks like a forklift
to knock a piece of set and a bunch of anvil cases onto Reigns. The camera
goes haywire and everyone screams for help, but Reigns is ok and on his
feet. The medics want to check on Reigns but he tells them to back off. We don’t see who was behind it as Reigns walks off to end the show.
Results
Kevin Owens b. Drew McIntyre – Stunner
Alexa Bliss/Nikki Cross b. Ember Moon/Bayley – Twisted Bliss to Moon
Dolph Ziggler b. Finn Balor – Superkick
Ali b. Shinsuke Nakamura – Rollup
Kofi Kingston b. AJ Styles – Trouble In Paradise

Wrestling Chops And Acting Chops. Current WWE Star Getting Scripted Series
On Netflix.
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 04:04 PM PDT
https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/wrestling-chops-acting-chops-current-wwe-star-getting-scripted-series-netflix/
It’s a big deal. Over the last few years, wrestling has become more and
more mainstream. WWE has turned into a PG, family friendly company and
that has allowed them to break into a variety of areas that they never
would be able to reach before. This has included a deal to make movies
with Netflix, but as it turns out, there is a little more to the deal for
one specific person.
According to Sports Illustrated, Big Show will be receiving his own series
for Netflix. The series, entitled the Big Show Show, will be a scripted
show based on Big Show’s life as he will be retiring from the ring to
become more of a father and husband. Production on the series will begin
on August 9 with a premiere date to be announced. Big Show has dabbled in acting over his years, with a variety of roles in films and on television.
Big Show has been changing a lot as of late. Check out a clip from his WWE Network special:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: This could be interesting as Big Show does have an interesting
story and has shown the ability to act before. I’m not sure how well the series will go but wrestling fans will likely check it out. If nothing
else it will be nice to have a series involving a wrestler which isn’t a reality show for a change. Let them see what they can do and maybe it
could go somewhere.
Will you watch the show? Who else in WWE should get a series of their
own? Let us know in the comments below.

It Makes Sense. Heres Why Bray Wyatt Was Not On Monday Night Raw.
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 04:01 PM PDT
https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/makes-sense-heres-bray-wyatt-monday-night-raw/
There’s a reason for that. Over the course of the last few weeks, Bray
Wyatt has been unleashed on the wrestling world again, this time with a vengeance. After several months worth of vignettes involving the Firefly
Fun House, Wyatt is now back in the ring as the Fiend and already has a big match set up for Summerslam. He was missing this week though and it turns
out that it is easily explained.
According to Ringsidenews.com, Wyatt was not on this week’s episode of
Monday Night Raw because Finn Balor was not on the show either. Balor was hospitalized last week due to an illness and without him being available
for Monday Night Raw, there was no reason for Wyatt to be on the show.
Balor vs. Wyatt is still scheduled for Summerslam and Balor is expected to
be back in the ring in time for the match.
