Should be Carlos right? I know Novak will get no.1 if he wins 1st match at USO and Carlos is defending the title, but he got injured soon after USO last year so has no points to defend.

wasting time with nonsense. It speaks volumes that Novak is 3-0 v
Federer in Wimbledon finals. It's not Federer's fault he won most of
his slams and Wimbledons before Nadal/Novak peaked, he can only play
the clowns in front of him.Federer had a great yr end no.1 record, 1
more than McEnroe and Lendl. Yes he played 10 yrs longer but it still
counts in the record books. It's not easy to match Nadal with 5 yr

What is Pete's record in Wimbledon against Novak?
Also, I thought Federer won a couple of Wimbledon titles against
Pete-on-steroids, which isn't bad, don't you agree?
Fed also lost to Nadal at Wimbledon. Sampras said he was licking his

Fed / Sampras / Djoker all have 7/8 Wimbs.
Regs have not changed that much. All those names have a set of evidence they can have a claim......
From Wimb/grass point-of-view....... .
Fed: most Wimbs, most grass court titles, longest grass court win-streak. (this was smt like four-years+?)
Pete: bowed to no one. Man to beat when things got tough on faster courts.... Djoker: just modest seven Wimbs, meantime won 3 of Wimb finals against Fed.
Fed wins via absolute numbers, but then Pete/Djoker climb back with h2h and clutch play numbers? ....but how you value these?

Connors was good at hanging tough and waiting for opponent to come
back to earth, perfect example at Wimbledon Pernfors led 6-1 6-1 4-1
and lost 1-6 1-6 7-5 6-4 6-2 - very famous match : )

Obviously Sampras would not have charged the net in Federer style so
you can't really say that what you just said.
On the other hand I agree that it can be suicidal to go to the net

perfect for grass, can't say the same for Rafa. So the ultimate
Wimbledon match for me (modern players) would be the 7 time champs
Sampras v Djokovic. Not sure who would win - can see both winning -
but I suspect Sampras would come through. Don't think he'd lose 40-15 serving for the match. But then again I wouldn't be surprised if
Novak won too. I'd just love to see it : )

I think he has excellent net instincts. The stomp volley is one of the
best. If there was something you could complain about, it's maybe his
first volley when he S&Vs.
BUt it's not a bigus dealus. Nowadays, the FH is the de facto first
volley. So it is with Fed. Serve & Sweep works on all surfaces, and the
real first volley is for the occasions you want to scare the opponent by being offbeat.
