I was tempted to pick Djoker for the win but just figured Alcarez had a slightly upper ceiling at this stage and youth on his side. I'm used to
Novak proving me wrong. I think he lives to prove everyone wrong : )

Having said that I did say Novak is more certain to reach the final than Carlos, but once there Carlos would be in great form and Novak a little
ragged from some tough matches. Didn't quite pan out that way this time.

Well, it is extremely difficult to pick the finalist and the
winner before the event has even started. I wasn't sure of
the winner until the last point of the final was over. This
year was particularly hard to predict as there were so many
good players who all had their chances.

You did well to guess right, but I am curious whether you
also bet real money on some on-line betting site?

I only had the nerve to bet on Zverev's win over De Minaur
and the match turned out to be much closer than I expected.

As it is for most slams. One looks at the draw, thinks about how the
players have been playing recently, and makes an educated guess. Granted
upsets happy often, for example who could have predicated that Djoke
would hurt his knee or Sabalenka would suffer from a virus and/or flu
    during this slam event?

You did well to guess right, but I am curious whether you

I don't gamble; especially with gambling websites or locations like Las
Vegas that have far better houses, cars, and clothing than I will ever
have. That's why I am so appreciative of MJ for holding this contest -
its about bragging rights only. Fun only.

Yes, you certainly have bragging rights for making
the correct educated guess. Well done. But when you
have placed a bet involving real money, the level of
excitement reaches another level. When Zverev was down
4-0 in the second set tie-break, I was super pissed off
and almost sure De Minaur would win the set!

But when Zverev went on to turn the tie-break around, I was
    extremely happy.

You get all those emotions with just a 20€ investment!

Follow up: I never dispute Margaret Court's Slam's wins because she went

went there and DID it. She had a much more travel journey out of Oz
than the Americans or Europeans. I don't want to hear about how Borg,
Mac, Connors, and etc. couldn't be wrestled from their homesteads to
do so. They has their chances and didn't do so... Hence their Grand
Slam totals are what they are. PERIOD.

    It was sarcasm : )

I didn't read it as sarcasm and that's why I lashed out. Often hard to understand sarcasm with written words. All good here fellow rst'er Whisper!

I give full credit to Margaret Court, and TT of course : )

She was an amazing player and I think the Oz Open needs to keep her name
on that court until the end of times...

Out of a huge crowd of 4 contestants, the winner is TT.

    Cheers

Does it count when only 4?  We'll just give credit like Margarat
    Court's AO wins?

But the draw was tough. I basically beat Federer, Nadal & Djokovic of
RST on my way to Wimbledon title.

Glad you think of my predictions as such, TT! ;)

It's a sausage fest here, bob is a well known ladies man.

er, yeah.  But do ladies men brag on usenet about texting some alleged female from India for months?  Didn't he offer "her" lodging and money?

    Sounds like "bob the benefactor".

I enjoyed these tales. It's good to have bob back even if it's only on
    top of sneaker TCP.
