Apples and oranges.
Becker perhaps yes, but what's normal in Australian (or any government) interfering in international sports, violating Olympic charter and so on?
You do realize that tournament can't force people to get vax, and neither does the goverment, at least not for this kind of diseases.
So in theory, non vaxxed Australian player could have competed at AO, and a non vaxxed Djokovic couldn't.
Isn't that French championships pre 1925?
"Only French club members".
Is that a considered slam nowadays.
No.
Why not?

That too.
So to sum it up.
Every rule has an exception, and Djokovic, due to his stature, and specific circumstances of AO being an international sporting event, Australia having an honour to even organize it, etc the government should have done everything in their power to makesure Djokovic is there. Exception is for people like him, in situations when he's visiting Australia to compete in ITF official championships. It's not like he was visiting his aunt.
But as you say, not only Djokovic wasn't treated as a star, he received no positive discrimination, he wasn't even treated as a normal citizen which is twice as horrible.
He had all the necessary paperwork, he was simply deported because the politicians were assholes. He was negatively discriminated.
Imagine if Michael Phelps was banned from entering China prior Beijing 2008 Olympics because China politburo party members didn't like him and said he promoted "bad values"?

Committee at first disqualified him, then accepted his appeal based on inadvertent use, according to The Associated Press.Imagine if Michael Phelps was banned from entering China prior Beijing 2008 Olympics because China politburo party members didn't like him and said he promoted "bad values"?Well, USA only did hid Carl Lewis positive doping for Soul 1988 and allowed him to race.
This example was already talked 1988 but confirmed as late as 2000:s
2013: "Ten years ago, Lewis confirmed reports he tested positive three times at the 1988 U.S. Olympic Trials for small amounts of banned stimulants. Lewis said he accidentally consumed the banned substances via cold medication. The U.S. Olympic
Johnson then asked for Lewis to be stripped of his 1988 Olympic medals.
"(He) tested positive several times but he’s been protected,” Johnson told Fox Sports. “Because he’s American."
Rules are different for superstars.

It's a scandal.
I think it was a very strange time in the world, so no real precedent on what action to take, and also govt saw a political advantage in going
hard against anti vaxers when everyone else was forced to suffer so much with long lockdowns etc. In the end I think it may have been a great
thing for Novak too as he was forced to take long breaks from the game
at a time when it made perfect sense to do so. Somehow I doubt he'd be
quite as strong and motivated today if he kept grinding away as normal,
so a blessing in disguise? Unless Nadal does something very unexpected
it's a moot point as Novak has the slam record. If he fell short by 1
to Rafa then we could say it was all very costly to him.

Rules are different for superstars.yes and they should be, likewise Becker is being targetted because he's a superstar which is disgusting from the UK government. They have purposely allowed in hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants on inflatable boats by crossing the channel yet
