And few hours later she beat Sasnovich... https://youtu.be/OLzlMITHFWo?si=4NivWXfM7ZN7bG_c
Beat today You! Yes, You. In two.
And few hours later she beat Sasnovich... https://youtu.be/OLzlMITHFWo?si=4NivWXfM7ZN7bG_c
What's to say... the girl is just playing well, hitting the ball where
she wants. I was able to catch the Sasnovich match in delayed video ...
Every time I see Leylah play I find new dimensions creeping into her
game. I guess today's theme would be that she's now playing more within herself, not going too often for too much (hitting too hard), finding
her patterns and controlling play with accurate placement and a bit more
spin than before. She was returning great. Broke Sasno, what... 4 times?
She's now 33rd on WTA live rankings. If she wins this tournament -
Jiangxi Open WTA 250 - then she'll be around 29th. Perhaps last
tournament of the year for her?
Tomorrow she'll face in the semis that damn Siniakova again, which she
beat at Hong Kong final. The woman who almost died to her injuries. At 5
a.m. New York time I think. Vamoses.

Yes she's playing well, I watched her final last week. I also like
Siniakova - nice figure and would be fiery in the sack. Very competitive
but a good sport too.

Siniakova won the SF. Was hitting the ball really well.
Was a tough match for both. 2 sets and 2 hours. Not many service holds.
I jinxed Leylah. She looked a bit tired, I thought.

Sini got a walkover previous match and was well rested, that was the
biggest difference.

I think so too. Leylah had to play two matches yesterday.
Exciting match anyway.

P.S. Here are the highlights: https://youtu.be/yMCmwf3RFCg?si=izoWEJT1bZz-BqKb
Sini was most of the time hitting the ball really hard and good. Better
than I recall seeing her. Both had trouble with 2nd serves.
Despite loss, pretty happy the way Leylah ended her season, stepping a
level. Surely if she can keep this level up she'll be top 20, maybe even
top 10 next season. If she improves during the break then top 10 for sure. Heck, I thought during this match a couple of times that Lil' Leyla is
the most talented women's player out there... the way she was standing
on the baseline not giving up an inch against Sini's flat and hard
strokes, very hard to do. Also she made a few great volleys today and
recent days... when did she come such a good volleyer? She was imo just
few months ago a total doubles noob standing at the net looking
stranded. Needs to work on lobs & overheads still.
I expect Leylah & Taylor to snatch a doubles slam title next year.
