• Two Chileans in Rome ATP1000 2024 semis!

From Kalevi Kolttonen@21:1/5 to All on Thu May 16 20:01:10 2024
It is incredible! Not one, but *two* Chileans
have made it to the Rome ATP1000 2024 semis.

Alejandro Tabilo will play against Zverev.

Nicholas Jarry just kicked out Tsitsipas and
    will play against Tommy Paul.

It is very refreshing to see new faces in
the latter stages of huge ATP1000 tournaments!

We could even have all-Chilean final on Sunday,
    who knows?!

Jarry is not really in Tsi's league. BUt won. What can you say. If you
    choke, you choke.

    True enuff.

Zverev will clobber Paul in the final.

4-2 h2h lead for Jarry now.

    Doesn't seem like an accident.

Jarry can definitely play. He is a big guy with
lots of power in his strokes. The statistics
on the screen made it clear that on average, Jarry
hit forehands faster than Tsitsipas. Regarding
backhands, they were pretty equal in speed.

    it's cos Tsitsi's Mediterranean-style tennis just doesn't cut it!

You have to play two sets of it. One doesn't count.

Jarry just beat Tommy Paul in three tight sets.

His compatriot Tabilo earlier lost to Zverev in
three sets, the last set being a no-content, Zverev
won wihout any problems at all.

That's another good win for Jarry. Didn't see any of it. I still think
Jarry needs to improve his mobility and consistency a bit to be a really
good player, but who knows. Must watch the final.

Looks like Djoko is playing a 250 after getting mugged by moving water.
Might play Sir Andy of Scotland in the second round. A strong 250. Djok, Murray, Ruud, Fritz, Shelton, Karatsev, ... playing.

Memo to Papa Tsi: you can't yell "no panic" from the sidelines. You just
    can't.
