Why doesn't Cerundolo get his spot against Ruud? I don't like the way it
    works.

    Nonsense. You lose, you're out.

This is tournament. It's not RR group stage or qualifies.

Too bad for Cerundelo but it's what it is.

I regret that 6-5 set point in second set tie-break vs Musettti. It was on Djokovic's serve. Some goofy point and volleying both were at the net. Not the best point Djokovic played.

2-0 there and it's an easy or easier win vs Musettti, and then surely easier win vs Cerundelo and possibily no knee issues?

But OTOH tough matches against Ruud or Zverev could or would cause it again on this slippery court so no point thinking about it.

    It is what it is.

At worst, Djokovic is there where Nadal was when he won against Fritz in 2022 Wimbledon QF and then retired before stepping on court in SF vs Kyrgios.

    Meaning he's done, lol.

Agreed 100%. That's how it's been since the
late 1800s when tennis was invented. No
point in trying to change that, ever!

Rules of tennis that changed over the years:

    Foot fault
In 1908, servers were allowed to have part of one foot on the
ground when they hit the ball, but the current rule states that
their foot cannot touch the ground until after they hit the
    ball.
    Tiebreaker
In 1924, Jimmy Van Alen designed the tiebreak system, which has
remained a major rule change since then. In 1970, the US Open
introduced a nine-point tiebreaker for all sets that reached 6–6,
and in 1975, the 12-point tiebreaker format was introduced.
    Open era
Before 1968, only amateurs were allowed to compete in professional
tennis tournaments, but the Open era began that year when Grand
Slam tournaments allowed professionals to compete with
    amateurs.

Coaching being allowed is another change.

Indeed and I do not like it at all. You
should be on your own, using your own brain
to make decisions. Or in doubles, you could
share your thoughts with your partner, but
    no coaches would be involved.

Back in the old days the tennis players
had to rely on their own reasoning and
    that was good.

Rules of tennis that changed over the years:

As you can see, very few changes in a very long
time. The tennis rules are quite perfect now.

We just have to accept technical improvements like
automatic line calling. According to Harri
Heliövaara's blog, all the ATP tournaments in 2025 will
have Hawk-Eye Live or an equivalent system.

I suppose he means the main tour, not challenger
    tour.

I agree, and it did make tennis unique from other sports.

People said 37 can't be old, specially when they play all time
    greats that are 31 and 32 :)

Yes, it's embarrassing how low 37 yr old Novak's ranking has plummeted.
    Oh wait!
