Here in the US there has been a lot of TV exposure for a big budget
summer film directed by, and starring, Kevin Costner. It's set in the
American west in the period 1861-1864.
In viewing the trailers something jumped out at me: there appears to
have been no attempt to include actors of color to meet casting
quotas--you know, that woke policy that allow us to understand that
there were quite a few black courtiers in the merry Olde England of
several centuries ago.
Looking at the extensive cast list briefly, I saw only one black
person.
Consider that Costner, riding on the wave of the very successful TV
series, Yellowstone, draws a lot of water in Hollywood right now.
Is this to be a new trend--to ignore DEI casting sensibilities?

So there goes the Oscar nomination.
Watched couple episodes of the new Star Wars series THE ACOLYTE. Lead is
a black girl and I think in first episode there weren't any white
male characters apart from one male convict with a 30 seconds role.
Even a bunch of jedi kids were all coloured.
There was at least one white male in ep2, but he was swiftly killed
off (Dean-Charles Chapman as Torbin).
Cast:
Amandla Stenberg as Osha/Mae - black woman.. non-binary, they/them
Lee Jung-jae as Sol - South Korean
Manny Jacinto as Qimir - Filipino-Chinese
Dafne Keen as Jecki Lon - white woman
Charlie Barnett as Yord Fandar - black
Jodie Turner-Smith as Mother Aniseya - black
Rebecca Henderson as Vernestra Rwoh - white lesbian
Carrie-Anne Moss as Indara - white woman
Dean-Charles Chapman as Torbin - WHITE MALE, 2 min role
Margarita Levieva as Mother Koril - white woman
Abigail Thorn as Ensign Eurus - white lesbian woman
Leah and Lauren Brady as young Osha and Mae - black girls
Amy Tsang as TBC - Chinese
David Harewood as TBC - black
Guaranteed Kathleen Kennedy quality.
Well, if you want US TV commercials, you come away with the impression
that the US is 60% black.
Ratings generate the money and money is what they are after and is what makes or alter the rules and policies. Give it time.

And let me guess... commercials have lots of white woman & black male
couples... but none white male & black/asian woman couples?
What you see most commonly on TV ads currently in multi-racial pairings
seem to be white female, black male, then white male Asian female, then
white males, then white/black males.
It's hard to recall seeing a white male with a black female--although it seems vaguely familiar.
Asian males are seen as either the head of a family, or alone.
Now, what I see in real life here on the US west coast for hetero
biracial pairings is:
White male/Asian female by far the most
Black male/white female
Black male/Asian female (not often)
White female/Asian male and white male/black female (both very rare)
Basically you see black females and Asian males left out in the cold in
this sort of pairing.
I've never yet seen an Asian male/black female.
There are exceptions, and this is a quick subjective recollection, but I think it's close.
