Yeah, Carlos was nervous, doesn't want to let Rafa down. I agree they
should get much better from here. Rafa is a pretty good doubles player
when he does play.

Yeah, Carlos was nervous, doesn't want to let Rafa down.  I agree they should get much better from here.  Rafa is a pretty good doubles player
when he does play.

I agree that Carlos was probably nervous, was broken on first service
game etc & improved gradually as the match progressed. Rafa started the
match strong, I almost posted here that every time Rafa touches the ball
they win the point, but didn't wanna jinx it... well, his level did drop
a bit after the strong start and especially returning wasn't very
effective, returning too far back giving the net guy too much time.

I think normally Rafa can return that far back on doubles because he
normally hits harder/more accurately than currently... AND if I recall correctly he normally returns on ad-court, so that he can hit crazy
angled forehands giving the net lurker slim chances.

It's interesting why they decided to have this sort of return position
where BOTH players return cross-court with their BACKHANDS, not
forehands. Maybe they think that Carlos' bh return is stronger.

But it certainly looked rather challenging approach seeing Rafa running
around his bh to hit cc forehands during some rallies.

RF97 and other little things :)

I got 2 of the new RF97, the gold brown ones. Jabeur and Zheng use it.
I really like it, but have to hit a smaller sweet spot to hit my best
shots. It's amazing when I do connect, serving more aces than ever.

I love it but need to hit the sweet spot to get the most out of it.  If
it's outside the W area it's not too forgiving like other rackets, but I prefer it that way as it amplifies everything when you hit it right -
that's how it should be : )
