• Son of Ringo fired for being too loud

Zak Starkey, Ringo Starr's Son, is no longer with The Who.

PEOPLE can confirm that the drummer, 59, who is the son of The Beatles
drummer Sir Ringo Starr and his first wife Maureen Starkey, has parted
ways with the rock band after 29 years.

"After playing those songs with the band for so many decades, I’m
surprised and saddened anyone would have an issue with my performance
that night, but what can you do?" Starkey added, appearing to reference
a Metro report where Roger Daltrey had repeatedly said he was struggling
to hear over the drums during The Who's Royal Albert Hall show last month.

A rep for the rock band told The Independent that the drummer's
departure was a “collective decision” made following their headline
shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London last month.

Didn't Keith Moon play himself deaf? Why wan't he fired?

Roger himself is losing his hearing. (Insert Tommy joke here.) It may be that the drums bother him more than
they used to. And who knows what Zak (Keith's godson, btw) said to Roger later? There's often more
    to the story.

I don't know how deaf Keith was. Heard plenty about Pete losing his hearing though.

From what little I know: The Who always loved Zak and actually wanted
him to become a permanent member of the band. But he kept declining to
    do so.

Regardless, The Who was one of the greatest bands ever in their
heyday...anyone who even attempts to play rock-n-roll or metal
    understands this.

At the time it was written, it was the latest and perhaps the most
exciting news. I almost followed up on the OP with the updates. Never
got around to it, it seems.

So, how did perhaps the quietest drummer of them all manage to raise one
fired for being too loud? Can there be a drummer too loud for The Who?

Too many unanswered questions. Starting with the name of the band.

I've been attempting to play one metal song. With mediocre success too.
Still don't know anything of The Who.

The Who stage presence of the 60s-70s was a precursor of punk,
    especially Townsend.

The Who, live, were the greatest rock band from 1965 to 1972, IMHO.

Old news, Pelle. Again. The enemy within, my untrustworthy, daily MSM,
says Zak is out. It seems that, at 60, Zak was too young for the rest
(who are or are not retiring).
