So I'm disgustingly lazy AND the worst salesman to
have ever lived. If I tried to sell water to a fish during
a drought, as I've stated in the past, he'd look up at
me and with his dying breath... "Fuck you!" he'd gasp.
So Mike buys like 100 of these:
https://www.google.com/shopping/product/1?client=safari&hl=en&q=ghost+detector&prds=epd:17611356331325315022,eto:17611356331325315022_0,pid:17611356331325315022&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjesqrShI2BAxVKMVkFHUe6A-IQ9pwGCAo
And this isn't necessarily easy but then he removes
all the electronics from their case. Then with just
a jumble of electronics, he makes a new case,
something way wicked cool, and he installs the now
loose electronics inside of it. Then he sells it for 5x
what he paid, plus shipping.
3D printed plastic can look really cool, but it feels
incredibly cheap and brittle... not the least bit
durable.
So give me a deal -- like 2x cost -- and come up with
some 3D printed Ostrich shaped ghost/UFO detectors
and I'll buy them...
Seems like a big risk to take on one tiny customer
though. Maybe a UFO or Ghost shaped casing.
Saw some coffin shaped "Detectors" that somebody
had whipped up. Have no idea if they did what I'm
suggesting, it's just a sure fire way of getting it right.
Assuming you can extricate the electronics from
their original case, make or find a new case and pass
it off as a new product.
Oo!
Maybe a cube? Simple. Drill some holes to align
the LEDs? Maybe even save 0.00003 cents by
leaving the bottom open. You know, for batteries?
Maybe buy a cheap existing toy or other item, and
install the electronics in that?

A robot? Rocket? Ghost? Alien? An eye?
Anything that might be construed as appropriate.
Or you can buy something "Expensive," a lamp or
other item, and insert it into that. It would work but
would be harder to sell.
I like the cube idea. Maybe you can get a funky color
or decorate it with stickers... paint it with stencils...
buy some cheap gumball machine like figure and
glue it to the top...
Gumball Machine prizes? I just found 100 aliens,
assorted colors, for $24 bucks. That comes out to
24 cents each.
I bought these for $6.66 including shipping:

That's 33.3 cents per unit...
Too expensive but something like this maybe:

Go to Amazon, search on "10 pieces glass dome with Wooden
base."
You can hire me when your business grows to large, or
buy me my Maserati as a reward for gifting you this gold
mine...
