SEFFNER, Fla. (WFLA) — A student at Armwood High School was arrested
Wednesday after Hillsborough County deputies said they received a tip that
she had brought a gun to school.
A school resource deputy assigned to the school was notified of the
situation around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, according to the sheriff’s office.

After conducting a search, officials said they found a gun in the 15-year-
old girl’s backpack.
The teen was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a
firearm on school property and a minor in possession of a firearm.
Her arrest comes only a day after a middle school student in St.
Petersburg brought a gun onto a school bus, where she is in stable
condition at All Children’s Hospital.
Multiple school districts in the Tampa Bay area have also reported
possible threats made by students within the past few months, with many of those incidents resulting in arrests.
In a statement following Wednesday’s arrest, Hillsborough County Sheriff
Chad Chronister said his deputies are committed to keeping students safe
and “will continue to address such incidents with the seriousness they deserve.”
“It’s heartbreaking and completely unacceptable that a student would ever
bring a weapon onto school grounds,” Chronister added. “Actions like these create unnecessary fear and undermine the trust and safety we strive to
build in our schools every day.”
