Firefighters from Mexico arrived at LAX on Saturday afternoon to
provide assistance with battling the wildfires across Los Angeles.
Gov. Gavin Newsom and his delegation and the Mexican firefighters
stood side-by-side holding U.S., Mexican and California flags to mark
their arrival. Watch the report from Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025.
More than 70 firefighters from Mexico were welcomed by Gov. Gavin
Newsom at Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday, offering aid
in the county's fight against some the state's worst fires in history.

"Emergencies have no borders — we are deeply grateful to our neighbors
in Mexico for their unwavering support during one of our greatest
times of need. Thank you to President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo for
lending the best of the best," Newsom said.

The 70+ firefighters and disaster relief workers, from Mexico's
National Forestry Commission and Ministry of Defense, will add to the
state's now 14,000 personnel fighting the fires (including those from
other agencies like guard service members, highway patrol officers and
transportation teams), according to the office of the governor.

The firefighters from Mexico will form handcrews to assist in
    firefighting operations.

"Mexico's seven major forest-vegetation types, which together cover 60.94%
of the land area (1,954,658 km 2 ); xerophilous scrub alone covers 27.46% (see Table 2)."

Mexican "handcrews", yet Newsom and Bass called the NYFD unqualified. No wonder unions voted for Trump this time.

How much scrub land does New York City deal with?
How many wild fires in that scrub land? The Mexicans have experience it would seem that the NYPD FD lacks. Southern ,California is a desert.
When it gets rain as it did for 2 years in a row brush and other plants
    grow wildly.
Followed by a drought year with less than 0.20 inches of precipitation left it quite dry. Combined with a seasonal wind event amplified by the
Climate Warming it has induced in Los Angeles County
a Fire of the Century though it may be superseded in that title by
    more horribly destructive conflagrations.

    Selah.
    bliss
