DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MICH (Fox 2) - Former Lions Safety Brandon Joseph was
waived just hours after he was detained by police in Dearborn Heights on suspicion of drunk driving, and for allegedly speeding.

The team announced that the second year player had been waived as part of several roster moves on Saturday, before the team traveled to Chicago
where they beat the Bears 34-17.

Joseph had played in all 14 games prior to being waived. The team didn't release any information on why he was cut, but it happened after he was detained for "several hours" by the Dearborn Heights Police Department.

Paul Vanderplow, a director with the Dearborn Heights Police Department,
said that Joseph was compliant and didn't cause a scene during the stop,
or while in custody. He was released without charges filed, pending the
    results of a blood draw.

Joseph first joined the team last year as an undrafted rookie free agent.
He spent most of the season on the practice squad, but played in two
games. This year, he started a game when Brian Branch was injured, but otherwise played mostly on special teams. He had an interception in the preseason, but had very few stats in the regular season.

Joseph recorded six tackles in a start against Seattle, and six tackles in
the first win over the Packers. Other than that, he had one tackle against
the Titans and a pass deflection against Jacksonville. The rest of the
games he played in he recorded no statistics.
