LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKRC/WKYT/CNN Newsource) - An investigation was underway
in Kentucky following a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred on Monday.

The incident took place at a home in Laurel County, where police
mistakenly went to the wrong address while attempting to serve a search warrant.

Douglas Harless, 63, was shot and killed by a London police officer on
Vanzant Road, according to Kentucky State Police. Initial reports did not clarify whether Harless was armed, but three days after the shooting,
London police stated that Harless "produced a firearm and pointed it at officers." During the encounter, an officer from the London Police
    Department shot Harless.

Dispatch audio obtained by reporters revealed that police were attempting
to serve a search warrant at 489 Vanzant Road, not 511 Vanzant Road, where
the shooting occurred. Efforts to obtain a copy of the search warrant from
the Laurel County Circuit Court have been unsuccessful so far, but
requests have been made for police records and bodycam footage from that
    night.

Shane Cornett, a friend of Harless for 16 years, described Harless as a
great man who was always willing to help others, calling his death a loss
    for the entire community.

"I just want justice served, you know, cause. I believe he was done
    wrong," he said.

Kentucky State Police, responsible for investigating all officer-involved shootings, stated they are committed to transparency while ensuring the integrity of the investigation.

Watch this space for the usual
    "collateral damage" excuses that get
    trotted out for police/judicial errors.
