The terror attack in New Orleans was one of the deadliest on US soil since
9/11 after the death toll rose to 15 on Wednesday afternoon.
Five additional victims have died since it was announced that 10 people
were killed when Shamsud Din Jabbar floored a rented F150 truck flying an
ISIS flag through crowds on Bourbon Street, according to the FBI.
A June 12, 2016, ISIS-inspired massacre at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub,
killed 49, according to data from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
Al-Qaeda killed more than 3,000 Americans on Sept. 11, 2001.
FBI investigators believe Jabbar was also “not solely responsible.”
Several pipe bombs disguised as coolers were later located along Bourbon
Street and had been wired to a remote detonator found in Jabbar’s truck, according to a Louisiana State Police intelligence bulletin obtained by
the Associated Press.
The Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, 2013, and San Bernardino massacre
on Dec. 2, 2015, both involved coordination among multiple individuals,
with the former being a brother duo and the latter being husband and wife.
Fourteen people were killed in the San Bernardino attack when Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik opened fire on a Christmas party at a rented
banquet room.
Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev killed three spectators at the 2013 Boston Marathon in their attack.
Lone wolf terror attacks, such as the Orlando mass shooting by Omar
Mateen, are much more frequent in the United States.
Those happen when individuals are self-radicalized online and carry out an
act or terror on their own.
Others include Nidal Malik Hasan, who killed 13 at Fort Hood in Texas in a
mass shooting on Nov. 5, 2009.
