If I lived in L.A., I would have voted for Rick Caruso, who I think would have made a far better mayor than Bass, in the mold of former mayor Richard Riordan, who was an excellent mayor.

Having said that, Bass did *not* cut the fire department budget, and she had nothing whatsoever to do with fire hydrants in Pacific Palisades running dry. Gavin Newsom *also* had nothing to do with that.
