Gene Simmons says Donald Trump “got all the cockroaches to rise to the top”

Gene Simmons has taken aim at former US President Donald Trump in the wake of the Texas elementary school shooting that left 19 students and two teachers dead.

In an interview with SPIN, the KISS rocker and former Celebrity Apprentice contestant didn’t hold back on his thoughts on Trump and the rippling effect
of his controversial run as president of the United States.

“I know the previous [US] President,” Simmons said. “I knew him before he entered politics. Look what that gentleman did to this country and the polarisation — got all the cockroaches to rise to the top. Once upon a time, you were embarrassed to be publicly racist and out there with conspiracy theories. Now it’s all out in the open because he allowed it.”

Simmons also criticised Trump for merging his role as a businessman with his role as president.

“You have a different responsibility when you’re just a citizen or an entrepreneur,” he said. “You don’t make policy. It doesn’t affect life and death. When you get into a position of power, it does affect lives.”

Simmons added, “I don’t think he’s a Republican or a Democrat. He’s out for himself, any way you can get there. And in the last election, over 70 million people bought it hook, line, and sinker.”

The rock legend didn’t stop there, as he went on to criticise current US President Joe Biden, despite saying he liked his “Ethics and morality”.

“The current president [Joe Biden], I like the ethics and morality — not a charismatic guy, unfortunately,” Simmons said. “The first word I keep hearing from people, even friends is ‘feeble.’ I don’t think he should run next time. So then who’s around? There are no stars and invariably people vote for
stars, not even what they believe in. The cult of personality. Americans are star obsessed: ‘Kylie’s got a new lip gloss? F**k!’”

CORAM, Long Island (WABC) -- A Long Island man is under arrest, accused of forcibly raping a 14-year-old girl.

Suffolk County police officers responded to an apartment complex on Country Club Drive in Coram after the teen reported she had been sexually assaulted by a man inside an apartment at the complex at approximately noon on June 26.

Following an investigation, police arrested 33-year-old Ricardo Gurdon.

He is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree criminal sex act.

Authorities say the teen, whose name is not being released due to the nature of the crime, had no prior relationship with Gurdon.

Suffolk police Chief of Detectives Gerard Gigante said the suspect is a naturalized US citizen from Jamaica who has lived in the US for 10 years and has no prior arrests.

He said the victim was walking through the Fairfield Courtyard complex from a relative's apartment, alone, to see some friends when she saw a man standing in the doorway of a unit she was passing.

He allegedly engaged her in conversation, and the incident proceeded from there.

"Gurdon and the girl ended up in the apartment, where he sexually assaulted and raped the girl against her will," Gigante said.

Gurdon was later arrested elsewhere. He had been living in the complex with a friend.

The child was examined at a nearby hospital and was not otherwise injured. No weapon was used.

Police are praising the girl for remaining calm and assisting in the investigation.

"It's very traumatizing," Gigante said. "No one's programmed or taught how to act or react in these situations. She did a good job, not only in how she handled herself, but also in explaining what happened to us."

He said the girl lives elsewhere and was visiting a relative in the complex at the time of the incident.

Police are reluctant to use the term "lured" in describing how she ended up in the apartment, and they are not ruling out the theory that she may have been dragged inside.

They are urging any witnesses to come forward.
