Firefighters are battling yet another wildfire in a riverbed in Riverside County Monday night.
Details are limited and it’s unclear exactly where and what time the fire started in the Jurupa Valley, but video posted to the Citizen App showed
black smoke billowing into the sky in brush behind nearby homes.
It is unclear just how large the fire is, how fast it’s spreading and
whether authorities have issued any evacuation orders or warnings, though aerial footage showed homes not to far from the flames.
According to reporting from Gil Leyvas in Sky5, structure protection crews
are working to protect nearby homes, while hand crews were seen attempting
to contain the flames with fire breaks.
Hand crews worked their way out of the riverbed as bulldozers entered the
area to mitigate the spread of flames.
This brush fire comes as officials with the National Weather Service
announced a particularly dangerous situation with the return of strong
Santa Ana winds in the 5 Freeway corridor in northern L.A. County and in
the San Fernando Valley Tuesday morning through Wednesday.
Sky5 is live over this developing story. which will be updated with
additional details once they become available.
