Red flag parking restrictions will be in place Monday for areas of Los Angeles and Pasadena due to forecasts of extremely dangerous fire conditions.

The restrictions in Los Angeles will take effect at 8 a.m. and continue “until further notice,” the L.A. Fire Department stated.

Parking restrictions are issued to improve access for first responders in the event of a fire and keep streets clear in case evacuations are ordered.

“Station Commanders were asked to identify areas such as very narrow roads, hairpin turns, tight curves, and key intersections that, if not cleared of vehicles, would create a choke point,” the Fire Department stated on its website.
