Authorities in Shenandoah County on Thursday arrested a man wanted on a
rape charge in Fairfax County.
The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office executed an arrest warrant on
Charles Wesely James Johnson for Fairfax County on a charge of sexual
assault against a victim by force, threat or intimidation. Authorities
booked Johnson at Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail just
before 2:30 p.m. Thursday. An official with the Sheriff’s Office said
she did not have details about Johnson’s case, except that the agency
acted on the warrant and arrested the suspect.
A spokesman with the Fairfax County Police Department confirmed that the
agency had a warrant for Johnson’s arrest on the charge. The spokesman
said he could not provide details of the investigation or the
allegations against Johnson. The victim and Johnson are known to each
other, the spokesman said.
The spokesman said he did not know Johnson’s connection, if any, to Shenandoah County. Johnson did not pose a threat to the county, the
spokesman said.
