They say the suspect entered the unlocked and open door of her hotel room, physically and sexually assaulted the victim, then fled.
Police stated a man known to the victim learned of the assault, saw the suspect and chased him before the suspect pointed a gun at the man and continued to escape.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for her injuries.
“She was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries. This man was armed with a firearm. That was later determined by our detectives and that’s why we’re asking for help in tracking him down,” said Second Lt. James Curry
Detectives obtained video surveillance from the hotel of the suspect.
Police say the suspect took the Silver Line to Metro Center and switched to the Red Line in the direction of Glenmont. Detectives believe the suspect resides in the Washington D.C. area. The suspect is between the ages of 25-40 years old, 5’8 – 6’,
heavy build with short curly black hair that is partially dyed blonde.
“Crimes of this nature are really important that we get the community’s help,” Curry said.“Working closely with Metro Transit Police Department, their officers did great work and they’re always willing to help us out with these types of
investigations, and go through hours of videos searching and tracking this man.”

The hotel has multiple buildings instead of a single entry point.
7News is on your side asking hotel officials about the safety measures before and after this attack.
In an email to the hotel's parent company, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, 7News asked, "Do you have a response to this crime? What are security measures at this location? Will you increase security measures after this crime?"
As of the time of publication, nobody has responded. We then asked the front desk employee these same questions, but she declined to provide a comment.
“The victim, in this case, did nothing wrong, but we still urge people to take safety precautions,” Curry said.
