Phoenix police arrested a man after a woman said he followed her into a Phoenix park bathroom and forced her to have sex with him, court records say.
Jonathan Brown Pridgon, 29, was arrested at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday after a witness in the bathroom said she heard another woman cry for help from a stall and saw Pridgon emerge from that stall, police documents say.
The woman told police she entered the bathroom at Cortez Park, near 35th and Dunlap avenues, and Pridgon had been standing just outside, court records say.
Investigators say the woman told them that Pridgon followed her into the restroom and into a stall. When she screamed, he covered her mouth and threatened to choke her if she shrieked again.

Pridgon was raping the woman when the witness entered the bathroom to rinse some clothing, the police report says. After hearing a cry for help, the witness said she saw Pridgon emerge from a stall while fastening his pants.
The witness told police that Pridgon said he didn't do anything because he "knows about these park girls," police say.
The woman was taken to a hospital and then a Phoenix advocacy center, the document says.
Investigators say that when they were interviewing Pridgon, he told them that his friends encouraged him to get a woman to perform sexual acts with him. Police also say that Pridgon admitted the woman may not have consented, court records say.
Detectives say multiple condoms were found in the bathroom stall.
Pridgon was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping resulting in injury and sexual assault and was found not bailable because of the nature of the alleged crime, documents say.
His first court appearance is Tuesday.
