Antonio White, 54, was sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted of rape
A man has been sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted of raping a woman who spotted him by chance six years after attacking her.
Antonio White, 54, was waiting for a train at a station in Atlanta, when his victim recognised him.
The Fulton County district attorney's office said: "She was overcome by the moment and began to yell out that he was the man who had raped her six years ago."
In 2007, White had offered a lift to the victim, who has not been named.
She accepted because she recognised him from the neighbourhood she previously lived in.
Instead of driving her home, White took her to an abandoned house and trapped her inside his car.
"When she attempted to run away, he chased her with a gun and managed to pull her back inside, where he raped her," the district attorney's office said.
Prosecutors said that during the assault White threatened the victim saying: "Shut up that screaming or I'll kill you."
The victim did not report the crime to the police due to not knowing the name of the man who raped her.
After she identified White at the train station, he was arrested and taken to Atlanta police station.
During the investigation, officers learned White had sexually assaulted multiple women, prosecutors said.
In the trial, prosecutors presented evidence of four previous sexual assaults White had committed, between 1983 and 2003.
He also had prior convictions for rape and robbery and had pleaded guilty to sexual battery in the past.
White was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
