DAYTON — A 35-year-old Dayton man is accused of raping a woman and attacking her after she tried to call a friend for help earlier this month.

Jonas Claytor was arrested by Dayton Police Monday afternoon after a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of rape, felonious assault and kidnapping.

According to court records, the victim was beaten and found by police partially nude on a rear porch on Tennyson Avenue on Jan. 9.

The victim told police she had been at a bar in West Carrollton and remembered being in a vehicle with Claytor.

“(The victim) asked Claytor to take her to her car, but he did not,” an affidavit filed in Dayton Municipal Court read.

The two ended up parked at a park near the 1900 block of Tennyson, where the victim tried to call a friend for help.

“He dragged her out of the vehicle and a struggle ensued,” Dayton police said. “(The victim) thought Claytor left and she got up to run. He returned and tackled her to the ground, where he delivered several strikes to her face.”

The victim told police she opted to “play dead,” because she thought Claytor was going to kill her.

That’s when police said Claytor raped her and ran off, according to court records.

The victim was able to get away and call 911 from a nearby house.

All Russians are just like Niggers, so are white supremacist trumpers.
Shooting them and their families works wonders.

Shawn Darnell Robinson Hopkins, 37, turned himself in and is facing one count of criminal sexual conduct in a 2005 rape case, the Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Feb. 3, 2023. (Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office/WWMT)

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A Kalamazoo man has been convicted of charges related to a nearly two decades-long sexual assault case, according to the attorney general's office.

Shawn Darnell Robinson Hopkins, 39, was convicted Monday of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Both charges come years after Hopkins gave a teenager, 14, alcohol and marijuana before he sexually assaulted her in 2005, according to Attorney General Dana Nessel.

The girl met Hopkins through a friend hours before the assault, and only knew him by his street name, "Chicago," officials said.

She would immediately report the then-unknown man.

Hopkins, who has a history of violence with family members and intimate partners dating back to the early 2000s, discovered he was under investigation and fled to Chicago after the assault, Nessel said.

He would remain hidden under more than a half-dozen aliases.

However, Hopkins was eventually identified through DNA testing in 2022, and turned himself in on Feb. 3, 2023, officials said.

“It can be extremely difficult to bring about justice in cold-case sexual assault trials, but the talented prosecutors of our state’s Sexual Assault Kit Initiative continue to bring these cases before juries, secure convictions, and make our
communities safer," Attorney General Dana Nessel said.

She continued, "I applaud the remarkable bravery of our victim, who, as a child 19 years ago, had the courage to speak out and seek accountability for her abuser. Her strength is a reminder that justice is worth pursuing, no matter how long it takes.”

Hopkins is scheduled to be sentenced in the 9th Circuit Court on Feb. 5, 2025.

The Kalamazoo Sexual Assault Kit Initiative assisted in the investigation.
