A woman who was allegedly high on marijuana was arrested following a
deadly crash at a busy intersection in Riverside on Saturday.
Riverside police responded to the collision near University and Park
Avenues at around 10:31 a.m.
The suspect, a 24-year-old woman in a Toyota Camry, was driving westbound
on University Avenue when she crashed into a Nissan Titan pickup truck
going southbound on Park Avenue, police said.
The truck driver was killed on impact. He was only identified as a 60-
year-old Riverside man. The 24-year-old woman was uninjured.
Authorities arrived at the scene to investigate and a Drug Recognition
Expert determined the woman had been driving under the influence of
cannabis.
She was arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and
booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.
No further details, including the suspect’s and victim’s names, were
released.
