I use a cheap USB microscope, for fiddly working on stuff. My major
discovery was that it was a stable stand that was critical, rather than
    the microscope itself.

This is a good stand and cheap microscope

You can buy the stand (or something very much like it) separately -
should you happen to have a old USB microscope lying around somewhere.

I actually have a VEHO microscope, but they seem expensive now, they
weren't when I bought mine a decade or two ago.

My glasses prescription has changed many times over that period, but the microscope still works fine.

I've seen good reviews of these, which come with a display and recording features:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09VPP5G59/

but are in a different pricing league to the USB microscope.

If you have a spare Android phone or tablet around, there's various 'USB camera' apps that can be used to turn it into a display.

What do you want to use it for and what magnification do you really need?

If for assembly work a bench mounted magnifier could be much better. See
