• Herefordshire Transit van man seriously injured cyclist in crash

A HEREFORDSHIRE man will be sentenced after causing serious injuries to a cyclist in a crash on a busy main road.

Damian Bilyard entered guilty pleas to one count of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving and one of failing to stop after a crash when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in April.

The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that Bilyard had been behind the wheel of a Ford Transit van when he crashed into a cyclist, causing them serious injuries, on the A44 in Bromyard on September 28.

The 37-year-old, who was represented at the hearing by defence barrister Ian Bridge, had also failed to stop after the crash, the court was told.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentencing report to be carried out by the probation service and Bilyard, of Firs Lane, Bromyard, was released on unconditional bail.

He will appear before magistrates in Hereford for sentencing on June 20.

Oh dear - doing that only adds more jailtime to your sentence.
The court takes a dim view of doing a runner - just look where Aureol Gray ended up after she killed a cyclist then left the scene to go shopping.

It seems that it is politically correct and proper these days to
    bastardise the English language.

Yes, the English language is going to the dogs.

    Liar.

Auriol (note spelling) Grey stayed at the scene to help, and was later told
by someone that she wasn’t needed. Only then did she leave.

It could have been worse, he could have had his head down looking and at
    his front axle.

In any case, there is no legal requirement for a pedestrian victim to
remain at the scene of a traffic accident he or she has witnessed.

Only obsessive idiots would suppose otherwise.
